Metaphorical Icon of Flower Elements in the Giselle Novel by Akiyoshi Rikako

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh ketertarikan peneliti terhadap novel Giselle karya Akiyoshi Rikako. Peneliti juga tertarik untuk mencari ikon metafora dari unsur bunga yang muncul di dalam novel Giselle karya Akiyoshi Rikako. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teori trikotomi tanda Pierce.  Masalah yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah:

    1. Hubungan kemiripan antara representamen (tanda) dan objek (acuan) dari ikon metafora unsur bunga dalam novel Giselle karya 　Akiyoshi Rikako.

    2.  Acuan ikon metafora bunga yang sering muncul dalam novel Giselle karya Akiyoshi Rikako.

Dari permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hubungan kemiripan ikon metafora unsur bunga dan mendeskripsikan acuan dari ikon metafora bunga yang sering muncul dalam novel Giselle karya Akiyoshi Rikako. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif.

Unsur bunga yang mengandung ikon metafora dalam novel Giselle karya Akiyoshi Rikako adalah bunga rosemary, bunga anyelir, dan bunga lili, dengan total data sebanyak 26 data. Dari data tersebut, terdapat 5 jenis hubungan kemiripan yang muncul, diantaranya ialah  kemiripan berdasarkan sifat & karakteristik, kemiripan sebab akibat, kemiripan bentuk, kemiripan fungsi, dan kemiripan maksud & tujuan.

Dari 5 jenis hubungan kemiripan yang muncul, terdapat 6 jenis acuan berbeda di tiap hubungan kemiripan pada 23 data ikon metafora bunga rosemary, yaitu acuan berupa sesuatu yang berbau harum, kemampuan mengingat, imajinasi latar, tongkat sihir, kekuatan tongkat sihir, dan kenangan.　Masing-masing acuan yang berbeda tersebut memiliki ciri khas dari ikon metafora.

Ciri karakteristik ikon metafora adalah tidak adanya kemiripan pada tanda dan objeknya, namun keduanya mengacu pada tanda yang sama. Contoh data ikon metafora pada bunga rosemary yang mengacu pada kekuatan tongkat sihir Myrtha. Antara  ikon metafora bunga rosemary dan kekuatan tongkat sihir Myrtha mengandung makna yang sama yaitu kenanglah.

This research is motivated by the interest of researcher in the novel Giselle by Akiyoshi Rikako. Researcher are also interested in looking for metaphorical icons of the flower element that appears in the novel Giselle by Akiyoshi Rikako. The theory used in this research is trichotomy theory of Pierce. The problems discussed in this study are:

1. Similarity realationship between the representamen (signs) and object (references) of the metaphorical icons of the flower elements in the Giselle novel  by Akiyoshi Rikako.

2. Reference to the flower metaphor icon that often appears in the novel Giselle by Akiyoshi Rikako.

From these problems, this study aims to describe the relationship between the metaphorical icons of the flower element and describe the references of the flower metaphor icons that often appear in the novel Giselle by Akiyoshi Rikako. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative.

The flower element that contains the metaphor icon in novel Giselle by Akisoshi Rikako is rosemary, carnation, and lily, with a total of 26 data. From these data, there are 5 types of similarity relationships that emerge, including the similarity based on the nature & characteristics, the similarity of cause and effect, the similarity of form, similarity of functions, and the similarity of intent and purpose.

Of the 5 types of similarity relationships that appear, there are 6 different types of references in each similarity relationship in 23 rosemary flower metaphor icon data, which is a reference in the form of something that smells good, the ability to remember, background imagination, wands, wand strength, and memories. Each of these different references has the characteristic of a metaphorical icon.

The characteristic feature of a metaphorical icon is that there are no similarities between the sign and the object, but both refer to the same sign. Examples of metaphorical icon data on rosemary flowers refer to the power of the Myrtha wand. Between the rosemary flower metaphor and the power of the Myrtha wand contain the same meaning, remember.
