Jargon mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Surabaya merupakan salah satu variasi bahasa di antara variasi bahasa di lingkungan masyarakat yang ditinjau dari sosiolek. Mahasiswa FT Unesa merupakan kelompok masyarakat yang berinteraksi dengan menggunakan kosakata tertentu. Kosakata tertentu ini sesuai dengan bidang keilmuan masing-masing mahasiswa. Kosakata tertentu muncul ketika berinteraksi dengan sesama mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut, bagaimana bentuk jargon mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Surabaya, bagaimana jenis makna jargon mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Surabaya, bagaimana fungsi pemakaian jargon mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Tujuan penelitian ini antara lain, mendeskripsikan bentuk jargon mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Surabaya, mendeskripsikan jenis makna jargon mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Surabaya, mendeskripsikan fungsi pemakaian  jargon mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Dalam penelitian ini, menggunakan teori Ramlan untuk mengkaji bentuk jargon, untuk mengkaji makna menggunakan teori Chaer dan Mauliastuti dan untuk masalah yang ketiga yaitu fungsi pemakaian menggunakan teori Halliday. Metode pengumpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode simak dan cakap dengan teknik simak, libat, cakap. Sedangkan metode penganalisisan data adalah padan dan agih, dengan teknik bagi unsur langsung. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat 5 bentuk jargon berdasarkan proses pembentukan, yaitu kata dasar, frasa, afiksasi, abreviasi dan komposisi. Berdasarkan asal istilah berasal dari bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris. Adapun  makna pada jargon mahasiswa FT Unesa adalah makna leksikal, gramatikal dan kontekstual. Fungsi jargon mahasiswa FT Unesa yang ditemukan adalah fungsi instrumental, regulasi, interaksional, representasi, heuristik, dan personal. Ranah penggunaan jargon mahasiswa FT Unesa adalah dalam sehari-hari berupa obrolan pribadi, pembelajaran dan gurauan.

    Student jargon of the Faculty of Engineering, Surabaya State University is one of the language variations among language variations in the community environment which is viewed from Sosiolek. Unesa FT students are groups of people who interact using certain vocabulary. This particular vocabulary is in accordance with the scientific field of each student. Certain vocabulary appears when interacting with fellow Faculty of Engineering students. The formulation of the problem in this study are as follows, how is the form of the engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya, how is the meaning of student jargon of the engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya, how the fungtion of the engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya. The objectives of this study were, to describe the form of engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya,  to describe the meaning of engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya  to describe the function of engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya. In this reserch, using the theory of Ramlan  to examine the form of jargon, to examine the second problem using Chaer and Mauliastuti theory to examine the types of jargon meanings and for the third problem use Halliday's theory to examine usage functions. The collection method in this study is the method of referring and competent with the techniques of referring, engaging, competent. While the method of analyzing data is solid and balanced, with techniques for direct elements. The results of this reserch are that there are 5 forms of jargon based on the formation process, namely basic words, phrases, affixation, abreviation and composition. Based on the origin of the term derived from Indonesian and English. The meanings of  engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya are lexical, grammatical and contextual meanings. The functions of engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya found were instrumental, regulatory, interactional, representation, heuristic, and personal functions. The realm of the use of engineering students jargon in state university of Surabaya is in the form of daily private chat, learning and jokes.
