Free voluntary web-surfing merupakan salah satu strategi dalam free voluntary reading yang dalam pelaksanaannya menggunakan aktivitas web-surfing atau penggunaan internet untuk mencari bahan bacaan. Dalam penelitian ini implementasi free voluntary web-surfing secara narrow bertujuan untuk membuktikan apa yang dikatakan Dr.Stephen Krashen dalam bukunya free voluntary reading pada sub-bab free voluntary web-surfing tentang keefektifannya dalam kegiatan membaca. Berangkat dari teori tersebut, peneliti melakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dan analisis dokumen untuk menyelidiki bagaimana penggunaan free voluntary web-surfing secara narrow dalam membaca, khususnya manfaat dan pemahaman bacaan. Dengan hasil,, sebagian besar pelajar EFL Universitas Swasta memiliki tingkat pemahaman pada tingkat interpretatif. Sementara itu, pada persepsi tentang manfaat apa yang dirasakan oleh pembelajar Private EFL disimpulkan berdasarkan 12 pernyataan yang dirumuskan  dan diperkuat dengan satu pertanyaan terbuka.

Free voluntary web-surfing strategies are one of the strategies in free voluntary reading, which in its implementation uses free voluntary web-surfing or the use of the internet to find reading material. In this study, the implementation of free voluntary web-surfing in a narrow way, with a goal like what Dr.Stephen Krashen said in his book free voluntary reading in the free voluntary web-surfing sub-chapter about its effectiveness in reading activities. Departing from this theory, the researcher conducted a study using descriptive quantitative and document analysis to investigate how the use of free voluntary web-surfing narrowly in reading, especially the advantages and reading comprehension. As a result, most Private University EFL learners have levels of comprehension at interpretive level. Meanwhile, on the perception of the advantages that preceived by Private EFL learners based on 12 formulated statements is helpful and strengthen by one open-ended question.
