Amorphophallus muelleri Blume merupakan tanaman umbi-umbian yang banyak tumbuh di Indonesia. A. Muelleri Blume memiliki kandungan glukomannan yang paling tinggi sekitar 55% dari pada genus Amorphophallus yang lain. Glukomannan ini banyak digunakan dalam produk pengemulsi dan penstabil untuk industri makanan, minuman, kosmetik dan farmasi. Kadar glukomannan dan morfologi A. Muelleri Blume dipengaruhi kondisi lingkungan tempat tumbuhnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon morfologi dan kadar glukomannan tumbuhan porang (A. Muelleri Blume) pada lingkungan yang berbeda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian observasi. Penelitian dilakukan di tiga daerah yaitu Desa Kowel (36 m dpl), Desa Sambikerep (182 m dpl), Desa Panglungan (613 m dpl). Ketiga daerah memiliki kemelimpahan tumbuhan A. muelleri Blume yang tinggi dan memiliki ketinggian yang berbeda. Parameter morfologi yang diukur meliputi meliputi tinggi batang, diameter kanopi daun, dan berat umbi. Parameter Lingkungan meliputi faktor klimaterik dan edafik. Faktor klimaterik yang diamati meliputi ketinggian tempat, suhu udara, intensitas cahaya. Faktor edafik yang diamati meliputi pH tanah, kelembapan tanah, C organik, N total, tekstur tanah, dan kapasitas air lapang. Data dianalisi secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan diuji menggunakan CCA (Canonical Correspondence Analysis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara kondisi lingkungan (klimaterik dan edafik) dengan morfologi (tinggi batang, diameter kanopi daun, berat umbi) dan kadar glukomannan. Respon morfologi tinggi batang yang tertinggi terdapat di Desa Kowel (dataran rendah) sebesar 86,6cm, lebar kanopi daun dan berat umbi terbesar terdapat di Desa Panglungan (dataran sedang) sebesar 64,4cm dan 801,2gram. Kadar glukomannan tertinggi terdapat di Desa Panglungan (dataran sedang) sebesar 47,7%.

Amorphophallus muelleri Blume was a tuber plant that was grown widely in Indonesia. A. muelleri Blume has the highest glucomannan content about 55% comparing with the other Amorphophallus genera. Glucomannan used in emulsifying and stabilizing products for the food, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Glucomannan and morphological levels of A. muelleri Blume were based on environmental conditions were they grow. This study aimed to determine the morphological response and levels of porang glucomannan (A. muelleri Blume) plants in different environments. This study uses observational research methods. The study was conducted in three areas, they were in Kowel Village (36 m asl), Sambikerep Village (182 m asl), Panglungan Village (613 m asl). Morphological parameters listed on the stem height, leaf canopy diameter, and tuber weight. Environmental parameters regarding climatic and edaphic factors. The climatic factor that discuss about altitude, air temperature, light intensity. Edafic factors include soil pH, soil moisture, organic C, total N, soil texture, and capacity of field water. Data were analyzed by quantitatively and discussed using CCA (Canonical Correspondence Analysis). The results of the study showed that the relationship between environmental conditions (climatic and edaphic) with morphology (stem height, leaf canopy diameter, tuber weight) and glucomannan levels. The highest morphological response of stem height was found in Kowel Village (low-land) of 86.6 cm, the width of leaf canopy and the largest weight of tuber found in Panglungan Village (intermediate-land) of 64.4 cm and 801.2 grams. The highest glucomannan content in Panglungan Village (intermediate-land) was 47.7%.
