The Cambridge curriculum is one of the international
curricula implemented in Indonesia. SMPI Al-Azhar 13 is a school that
implements the Cambridge curriculum, driven by the school's vision and
mission to realize students with an international perspective. The objectives
of this research are: 1) To find out how the principal implements the Cambridge
curriculum at SMPI Al-Azhar 13; 2) To find out how the principal manages
educators in the implementation of the Cambridge curriculum at SMPI
Al-Azhar 13; 3) To understand the learning process which includes lesson plan
formats, methods, and learning media in the implementation of the Cambridge
curriculum at SMPI Al-Azhar 13 Surabaya; 4) To identify the supporting and
inhibiting factors in the implementation of the Cambridge curriculum at
SMPI Al-Azhar 13 Surabaya.
This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a
case study research design. The data sources come from primary and secondary
data sources. Data collection techniques involve interviews, observations, and
documentation studies. The data from this research are analyzed using the
Miles, Huberman, and Saldana analysis model, which includes data collection,
data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion.
Based on the research and analysis results, it can be
concluded that (1) the implementation of the Cambridge curriculum at
SMPI Al-Azhar 13 starts with planning, class division, training of educators,
preparation of curriculum documents, evaluation in the form of assignment
assessments, daily tests, mid-semester summative assessments, final semester
summative assessments, and checkpoints; (2) management of educators which
includes planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision; (3) the
learning process, namely the preparation of learning devices (lesson plans),
methods, and learning media; (4) supporting and inhibiting factors which
consist of school programs, infrastructure, and human resources. The effective
implementation of the Cambridge curriculum can enhance students'
achievements both academically and non-academically.
