Setiawan, Donny. 2023. The Effect of Circulated Flow Of Hydrotherapy on Decreasing Post-Exercise Lactic Acid Levels. Dissertation, Sports Science Doctoral Study Program, Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences, Surabaya State University. Advisor: (I) Prof. Dr. drg. Soetanto Hartono, M.Sc. and (II) Dr. dr. Endang Sri Wahyuni, M.Kes.Key Words: hydrotherapy, temperature, water circulation, lactic acidFatigue is a condition experienced by athletes after training or competition. Fatigue is caused by excessive lactic acid content in the body's cells. This can interfere with the athlete's performance in training or the next match. This study aims to determine the effect of circulated flow of hydrotherapy on decreasing post-exercise lactic acid levels. This study aims to determine: (1) the effect of water temperature of 20oC and 37oC on decreasing lactic acid levels, (2) the difference in effect between water speeds of 0.25 and 0.50 liters/second on decreasing lactic acid levels, ( 3) the effect of the interaction between water temperature and water speed on changes in lactic acid levels. The research was conducted using the 2x2 factorial experiment method using 6 groups of test subjects with relatively the same biometric conditions. Hydrotherapy treatment is given by adding circulating water flow which has a massage effect on the surface of the body. The water temperature was varied by 20oC and 37oC. The speed of the water is varied by 0.25 and 0.50 liter/second.The results of this study indicate that: (1) there is a significant difference in the effect of water temperature of 20oC, with a water speed of 0.25 and 0.50 liters/second on the decrease in lactic acid levels, as evidenced by (K1), (K2) p = 0.002 <0.05, (2) there is a significant difference in the effect of water temperature of 37oC, with a water speed of 0.25 and 0.50 liter/second on the decrease in lactic acid levels, as evidenced by (K2), (K3) p value = 0.002 < 0, (3) there is an interaction between water temperature (20oC, 37oC) and water speed of 0.25 and 0.50 liters/second on changes in lactic acid levels, as evidenced by the value of p=0.04 <0.05. The group that had the maximum results in reducing post-exercise lactic acid levels were variations (K4), (K3), (K1), and (K2).
