PENGEMBANGAN INSTRUMEN PENILAIAN HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS PADA MATERI EKOSISTEM KELAS VII
THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENTS ON 7TH GRADE ECOSYSTEM MATERIALS

This study aimed to produce a higher order thinking skills (HOTS) assessment instrument on ecosystem material that is theoretically and empirically feasible. This study was type of Research and Development (R&D) with the PPE (Planning, Production, Evaluation) development model. The assessment instrument that has been developed, carried out a piloting project on 32 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 18 Surabaya. The results obtained showed that nine items in the HOTS assessment instrument were declared theoretically valid by the three validators, while empirically two of the nine items were declared invalid, respondent reliability as 0,11 in the weak category, item reliability as 0,81 in the good category, and Cronbach's alpha value as 0,28 in the poor category. Analysis of bias detection showed that the gender groups did not discriminate question items and have item difficulty levels of 22% very difficult, 34% difficult, 22% easy, and 22% very easy. The average response of students was 96%, which means that the students gave a positive response to the development of HOTS assessment instruments.
