Sex and the City Karya Candace Bushnell dan No Sex in the City Karya Randa Abdel Fattah: Sebuah Kajian Intertextual

Candace Bushnell's Sex and the City and Randa Abdel Fattah's No Sex in the City: An Intertextual Study

    Studi ini bertujuan untuk menemukan hubungan Intertextual yang ada dalam Sex and the City karya Candace Bushnell dan No Sex in the City karya Randa Abdel–Fattah. Kedua karya tersebut menggambarkan potret para wanita sukses, cantik dan pintar tetapi masih single dan belum menikah. Kedua karya juga menggambarkan konsep pernikahan dan hubungan seks diluar pernikahan. Namun, meskipun mereka memiliki beberapa kesamaan, mereka juga memiliki perbedaan karena kedua buku tersebut dibuat pada waktu yang berbeda dan latar belakang penulis yang berbeda. Dengan menggunakan teori Intertekstual untuk menemukan persamaan dan perbedaan kedua karya dalam kaitannya dengan pernikahan dan hubungan seks diluar pernikahan. Kajian ini menggunakan interpretasi kritis sebagai analisis data dengan membandingkan kedua cerita. Analisis ini menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa teks terdahulu dan teks selanjutnya memiliki hubungan sebagai hipogram dan transformasi. Sex and the City karya Candace Bushnell telah menginsipirasi lahirnya No Sex in the City karya Randa Abdel–Fattah. No Sex in the City menunjukkan adanya penyerapan dan perubahan makna dari Sex and the City. Sehingga kedua karya memilki persamaan dan perbedaan berdasarkan interpretasi mereka masing–masing.

    This study analyzes the Intertextual relation between Candace Bushnell’s Sex and the City and Randa Abdel –Fattah’s No Sex in the City. Both of the works portray successful, beautiful, and smart women who still single and unmarried. However, even though the works have similarities, it is also found the differences because they are written from different time and authors’ diverse backgrounds. Using an Intertextuality approach to find the relation both works in terms of marriage and premarital sex. This study uses critical interpretation as data analysis by comparing the works. The result of the analysis reveals that the former text and the later text have a relation as the hypogram and transformation. Candace Bushnell’s Sex and the City has been inspiring the birth of Randa Abdel –Fattah’s No Sex in the City. No Sex in the City shows the absorption and transformation meaning from Sex and the City. Thus, both of the works have similarities and differences based on their interpretation.
