Keywords: Development of Learning Materials, Guided
Inquiry by REACT Strategy, Students’ Learning Achievement, Student’s Responses.
The
purpose of this study is develop of learning materials based on guided inquiry
by REACT strategy to improve student’s learning outcomes on heat and
temperature. The type of research is research development with 4D model and try
outed using the One Group Pretest – Posttest Design with involving 100 students
of class XI-A1, class XI-A2 and class XI-A8 at SMAN 1 Cerme. Data collection
methods used validation, observation and test.
Learning
materials that were developed consisting of Syllabus, Learning Implementation
Plan (RPP), Student Worksheet (LKPD), Student Textbook and Question Instruments
by using the guided inquiry by REACT strategy were stated to be very valid and
appropriate to use in the learning process by validators.
The
practicality of the learning materials developed by implementing the results of
the first trial resulted in several things, including: the implementation of
the lesson plan and student’ activity in class XI-A1, class XI-A2 and class
XI-A8 at SMAN 1 Cerme for three meetings are showed very good. Obstacles that
found during the research process can be used as input and reference carrying
out teaching and learning activities by using guided inquiry by REACT strategy.
The
effectiveness of learning materials developed can be seen from the students’
learning achievement at class XI-A1, class XI-A2 and class XI-A8 in knowledge
aspect are 87.88%; 90.63% and 85.71%, while for the
value of normalized gain (N-gain) obtained which are 0.62; 0.58; 0.62 with
medium category. The learning achievement for affective aspect and psycomotor
aspect from the third class are showed very good results. So that, the final
score of student’s learning achievement at class XI-A1, class XI-A2 and class
XI-A8 are 84.32; 83.17; 83.06 with complete
category. The student’s response of three classes
are showed 96.41%; 97.16%; 98.19%, so it can be interpreted that the students
gives a positive response with the learning process developed by researchers.
Based on
the results can be concluded that the guided inquiry model by REACT strategy
learning materials is appropriate to be used to improve students’ learning
achievement of high school students.
