Upcycle Denim Jacket as a Medium for Exploration of Slashing Techniques Combinaton of Patchwork waste Source Fireworks Ideas

    Teknik slashing merupakan teknik memanipulasi kain dengan menjahit beberapa tumpukan kain kemudian dipotong sesuai bias dengan tetap memperlihatkan lapisan paling bawah. Teknik slashing kombinasi limbah perca menjadi metode eksplorasi menarik untuk memberikan sentuhan kreatif pada jaket denim yang akan diupcycle. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses eksplorasi desain dan hasil jadi upcycle jaket denim sebagai media eksplorasi teknik slashing kombinasi limbah perca sumber ide fireworks. Jenis penilitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan desain. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode double diamond meliputi 4 tahap: Discover mengumpulkan informasi mengenai efek akhir fireworks dan merancang eksplorasi motif slashing, Define membuat moodboard De Slash Fireworks hingga membuat tabel eksplorasi slashing pada desain jaket denim, Develop mengembangkan menjadi 9 desain dan membuat eksperimen ujicoba/prototipe awal, Deliver pemilihan desain dan mewujudkan pembuatan 3 produk upcycle jaket denim kemudian dilakukan uji kelayakan karya. Instrumen pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan lembar observasi kepada ahli tekstil pada detail fabric slashing. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menentukan mean atau rata-rata. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan hasil total keseluruhan aspek diperoleh bahwa desain 1 lebih diminati oleh para observer. Inspirasi efek akhir dari fireworks dapat divisualkan ke dalam eksplorasi teknik slashing dengan kontras yang tepat dengan warna kain perca merah, kuning, biru.

    The slashing technique is a technique of manipulating the fabric by sewing several piles of fabric and then cutting according to the bias while still showing the bottom layer. the slashing technique combined with patchwork waste is an interesting exploration method to give a creative touch to the upcycled denim jacket. This study aims to find out the process of exploring the design and finished results of the denim jacket upcycle as a medium for exploring slashing techniques for the combination of patchwork waste sources od fireworks ideas. This type of research is design development research. The research method using the double diamond method includes 4 stages: Discover collects Information about the filnal effect of fireworks and designs slashing motif exploration, Define creates a moodboard De Slash Fireworks to create a slashing exploration table on denim jacket design, Develop into 9 designs and makes innitial trial/prototype experiments, Deliver design selection and realize the manufacture of 3 denim jacket upcycle products, then a feasibility test was carried out. The data colletion instrument for ths study uses observation sheets to textile experts on the details of fabric slashing. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive analysis techniques by determining the overall aspect, it was obtained that design 1 is more in demand by observers. The inspiration for the final effect of the fireworks can be visualized into the explloration of slashing techniques with the right contrast with the colors of red, yellow, blue patckworks fabric.
