Trading expired processed food products in
Genteng District, Banyuwangi Regency violates the provisions of Law No. 8 of
1999 concerning Consumer Protection. The impact of trading expired processed
food products can endanger consumers, especially in terms of health. The
importance of oversight of the Center for Drug and Food Control is a preventive
attitude in dealing with the circulation of expired processed food products and
repressive actions for business actors who violate laws and regulations.
This research is an empirical legal
research located in Genteng District, Banyuwangi Regency. The data used are primary
data and secondary data. Data collection was carried out through the interview
method. The informants in this research were the Investigator of the Surabaya
Center for Drug and Food Supervision and the business of processed food
products in Genteng District, Banyuwangi Regency.
The results of this study indicate that in
supervising the Surabaya Center for Drug and Food Supervision refers to the
post market supervision, namely by conducting inspections and investigations
conducted in the field, as well as providing information and socialization
relating to the feasibility of food to the public and coaching towards business
people. Surabaya Central Food and Drug Supervisory Agency in carrying out
supervision of the circulation of processed food products that have expired has
constraints namely the lack of human resources owned by the Surabaya Food and
Drug Supervisory Center, as well as the lack of transportation accommodations
needed to reach the surveillance area so that food product supervision processed
less than the maximum.
