Penciptaan karya batik  dilatarbelakangi oleh kekayaan laut di Indonesia. Hasil laut yang berlimpah bisa dikonsumsi sehari-hari ataupun untuk produksi makan olahan pabrik. Terdapat banyak jenis ikan yang menyebar di laut Indonesia. Ikan Semar dan Ikan Layur merupakan ikan laut yang sering dijumpai sehari-hari karena penyebarannya yaitu di Samudra Hindia. Bentuk dan karakteristik yang unik dipilih menjadi sumber ide penciptaan karya.

Fokus penciptaan perupa ialah menciptakan karya seni yang terinspirasi dari Ikan Semar dan Ikan Layur berupa karya batik tulis. Tujuan penciptaan karya batik ini antara lain mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan motif Ikan semar dan Ikan Layur serta proses dan visualisasi penciptaan motif Ikan Semar dan Ikan Layur.

Tahapan penciptaan karya meliputi menentukan konsep dan sumber ide, eksplorasi visual motif batik, pemilihan alat, teknik , bahan, pembuatan desain awal, kemudian desain awal divalidasi, Perwujudan empat karya, terakhir yaitu laporan.

Perwujudan karya sejumlah empat buah dengan rincian dua kain panjang berukuran 230 cm x 115 cm berjudul selang seling dan  gelembung. Dua pakaian wanita berjudul kumpul dan ombak. Teknik  pembuatan batik yaitu dengan dicanting disebut juga batik tulis. Proses pewarnaan dengan teknik colet menggunakan pewarna sintetis yaitu remasol.

The creation of Batik works was motivated by the richness of the sea in Indonesia. Abundant marine products is used for daily consumption or for the production of food factory. There are many kinds of fish that are spread in the Indonesian sea. Semar fish and Layur fish are sea fish that are often found everyday because of their spread in the Indian Ocean. Unique shapes and characteristics are chosen as the source of ideas for the creation of works.

The focus of this art creation is to create artworks inspired by Semar fish and Layur fish in the form of Batik works. The purpose of this Batik creation includes knowing and describing Semar fish and Layur fish motifs, describing the process and the visualization of the creation of these fish motifs.

The stages of this creation include determining the concept and source of ideas, visual exploration of Batik motifs, the selection of tools, techniques, materials, the initial design making which then was validated, the embodiment of four works, and the report as the last stage.

The embodiments of the work of four pieces are in the form of two long fabrics named selang seling and gelembung  in 230 cm x 115 cm. Two women's clothing named kumpul and ombak. The technique of making Batik is writing motif with canting in fabric which is also called written Batik. The coloring process with the colet technique used synthetic dyes namely remasol.
