Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh problem based learning terhadap keaktifan dan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada mata pelajaran karakter kebangsaan di SPN Polda Jatim.
Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian True Experimental Design dengan bentuk pretest-posttest group design. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelompok yang masing-masing terdiri dari kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Analisis uji validitas dan reliabilitas instrument dilakukan untuk mengetahui kehandalan instrument. Setelah instrument dinyatakan handal, selanjutnya instrument observasi digunakan untuk menegatahui pengaruh model problem based learning terhadap keaktifan peserta didik dan tes yang akan digunakan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik melalui peretest dan postest, dengan menggunakan rumus independen sampel t-test.
Hasil penelitian berdasarkan perhitungan keaktifan peserta didik diketahui rata-rata (mean) untuk posttest kelas kontrol adalah 55 dan kelas eksperimen 88. Kemudian, hasil dari penghitungan dengan uji independen sampel t-test diperoleh nilai signifikansi berdasarkan pada kolom asymp. Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00 atau signifikansi < 0,05 (0,00 < 0,05). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pada rata-rata nilai posttest kelas kontrol dan rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen yang berarti model problem based learning berpengaruh terhadap keaktifan peserta didik. Selanjutnya berdasarkan perhitungan perhitungan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik diketahui rata-rata (mean) untuk posttest kelas kontrol adalah 55,6 dan kelas eksperimen 88,3. Kemudian, hasil dari penghitungan dengan uji independen sampel t-test diperoleh nilai signifikansi berdasarkan pada kolom asymp. Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00 atau signifikansi < 0,05 (0,00 < 0,05). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pada rata-rata nilai posttest kelas kontrol dan rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen yang berarti model problem based learning berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik.

This study aims to determine problem based learning on the activeness and critical thinking of students on the subject of national character at SPN Polda Jatim.
This research uses quantitative research with True Experimental Design research method in the form of pretest-posttest group design. This study involved two groups, each consisting of an experimental group and a control group. Analysis of the validity and reliability of the instrument was carried out to determine the reliability of the instrument. After the instrument is declared reliable, then the observation instrument is used to determine the effect of the problem based learning model on student activity and the test that will be used to determine the effect of the problem based learning model on students' critical thinking skills through a test and posttest, with using the independent sample t-test formula.
The results of the study based on the calculation of student activity, it is known that the average (mean) for the control class posttest is 55 and the experimental class is 88. Then, the results of the calculation with the independent sample t-test test obtained a significance value based on the asymp column. Sig (2-tailed) of 0.00 or significance <0.05 (0.00 <0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average posttest value of the control class and the average posttest value of the experimental class, which means that the problem based learning model has an effect on student activity. Furthermore, based on the calculation of students' critical thinking skills, it is known that the average (mean) for the control class posttest is 55.6 and the experimental class 88.3.
