Matchmaking in the Novel Nasibe Guru Haryoko by Tulus Setiyadi 

Novel Nasibe Guru Haryoko karangan Tulus Setiyadi merupakan karya sastra Jawa yang

membahas masalah sosial. Salah satu masalah sosial yang diangkat yaitu perjodohan yang dialami

oleh tokoh. Perjodohan dalam novel NGH tersebut dianalisis menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra

Wellek & Warren, dengan merelevansikan pola perjodohan dan adat perjodohan dalam masyarakat

Jawa. Novel NGH ini dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif analisis yaitu metode yang digunakan

menjelaskan bagian-bagian yang menjadi topik permasalah dalam analisis yaitu tentang pola

perjodohan. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa pola perjodohan dalam novel NGH dibagi menjadi

dua yaitu dijodohkan. Pola perjodohan melalui cara dijodohkan, dipengaruhi oleh peran orangtua

yaitu berupa (1) menjodohkan, (2) memberi pengertian, (3) memberi restu dan (4) memberi

keputusan dengan pertimbangan status sosial pasangan. Kriteria tersebut kerap digunakan oleh

masyarakat khususnya Jawa dalam menimbang jodoh anak berupa bobot, bibit, bebet pasangan

dengan kriteria dominan yaitu berdasar status sosialnya.

The novel Nasibe Guru Haryoko by Tulus Setiyadi is a Javanese literary work that discusses social

issues. One of the social problems raised is the matchmaking experienced by the characters. The

matchmaking in the novel NGH was analyzed using the sociological theory of literature by Wellek

& Warren, with relevance to the pattern of matchmaking and matchmaking customs in Javanese

society. This NGH novel was analyzed using a descriptive analysis method, namely the method

used to explain the parts that became the topic of the problem in the analysis, namely the pattern of

matchmaking. The results of the analysis show that the matchmaking pattern in the NGH novel is

divided into two, namely matchmaking. The pattern of matchmaking through matchmaking is

influenced by the role of parents in the form of (1) matching, (2) giving understanding, (3) giving

blessing and (4) giving decisions taking into account the social status of the partner. These criteria

are often used by the community, especially in Java, in weighing a child's mate, namely in the form

of ‘bobot, bibit, bebet’ the patner with the dominant criterion, namely based on social status.
