This study aims to describe the increase in students' scientific literacy using the Problem Based Learning model. Researchers used Pre-Experiment as a type of research and used One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The subjects in this study were 20 students of class VIII I SMP Negeri 32 Surabaya. The implementation of learning with the Problem Based Learning model was carried out very well according to the syntax. The average scientific literacy score of students from the pretest results got a score of 60.2 which increased to 75.7 in the posttest results. The results of the N-Gain Score obtained are 0.38 in the medium category. The application of the Problem Based Learning model on additive material received a very positive response from students with an average acquisition of 86% with very good criteria that support the growth of students' scientific literacy skills. Based on this, the application of the Problem Based Learning model can improve students' scientific literacy. The highest increase in the indicators of competence/scientific process was 0.53 in the good category.
