APPLICATION OF LEARNING PEER TEACHING METHOD TO
IMPROVE LEARNING OUTCOMES IN EYE LEVEL OF LATHE MACHINE IN CLASS XI ENGINEERING

The teacher is an
important factor in improving student learning progress. Teachers are expected
to be creative in providing learning methods so as not to be monotonous, in
this study the teacher uses the Peer Teaching learning method (peer tutor)
which is specialized in lathe subjects. The purpose of this study was to
determine whether the Peer Teaching method is influential in improving student
learning outcomes in class XI majoring in Mechanical Engineering at SMK Ahmad
Yani Probolinggo, especially on Lathe subjects.
This study uses the
Classroom Action Research method
conducted at SMK Ahmad Yani Probolinggo with the subject of 24 students of
class XI majoring in Mechanical Engineering. In this study conducted two
cycles. Before the first cycle was carried out the researcher conducted a
Pretest and at the end of the second cycle the Postest was conducted to find
out the improvement in student learning outcomes after using the Peer Teaching
method.
The results of the data analysis showed that by reflecting the first and
second cycles, an average of all aspects of the 62.5% was found and an increase
in the second cycle was 81.5%, so it can be concluded that the Peer Teaching
method was able to improve student learning outcomes at SMK Ahmad Yani
Probolingo, class XI on lathe subjects.
