This
study aims to motivate students who take volleyball extracurricular activities
at SMAN 8 Surabaya. This type of research uses descriptive survey research
methods. These survey methods can minimize time and be adjusted to current
conditions. The population of the students who participated in the volleyball
extracurricular was 33, while the sample was taken as much as the population. Sampling
means the total number of students who make up the population is used as a
sample. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Data analysis used descriptive
statistics with the help of Microsoft Excel. Based on the results of research
and discussion, it can be explained by several factors along with the answer
values, including attitude and experience of 92% (152 yes), physiology 71% (117
yes), taste 87% (143 yes), self-actualization of 75% ( 123 yes), attention 59%
(97 yes), self-confidence by 54% (89 yes), feelings by 52% (85 yes), and
appreciation by 35% (58 yes). Thus it can be concluded that the most prominent
supporting factors for student motivation in volleyball extracurricular at SMAN
8 Surabaya, which the highest value sorted from the yes answer, are attitude
and experience (92%), physiology (87%), taste (75%), self-actualization (71%),
attention (59%), self-confidence (54%), feelings (52%), and appreciation (35%).
So, from all the indicators, a score with the percentage result for the
dominant answer is 92%, which means that the attitude and experience factors
can encourage students' motivation to participate in volleyball extracurricular
activities to excel. Several factors also affect volleyball extracurricular
activities, including physiology, self-actualization, taste, attention,
self-confidence, and feelings; the lowest factor is appreciation.
