Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kemampuan menulis puisi siswa yang masih belum mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimum (KKM). Dalam penelitian ini digunakan media monopoli puisi (mopis) sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis puisi. Tujuan yang igin dicapai dalam penelitian adalah (1) mendeskripsikan penerapan media monopoli puisi (mopis) dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi, (2) mendeskripsikan pengaruh media monopoli puisi (mopis) terhadap kemampuan menulis puisi, dan (3) mendeskripsikan respon siswa setelah pembelajaran menulis puisi menggunakan media monopoli puisi (mopis).

    Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan metode deskripsi kuantitatif. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis true eksperimental design atau penelitian yang sebanar-benarnya. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Cerme-Gresik, sedangkan sampel yang digunakannya kelas VIII-J sebagai kelas kontrol dan VIII-I sebagai kelas eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, tes dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan rumus untuk menghitung aktivitas siswa dan guru, hasil prites dan postes, dan hasil angket respon siswa.

    Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan media monopoli puisi (mopis) dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi berlangsung baik dan lancar. Kemampuan menulis puisi kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Cerme-Gresik mengalami peningkatan. Pada kelas kontrol nilai rata-rata pretes 69, 55, sedangkan nilai rata-rata postes meningkat menjadi 75,56. Pada kelas eksperimen nilai rata-rata pretes 67,72, sedangkan nilai postes adalah 82,39. Peningkatan kelas eksperimen lebih banyak bila dibandingkan pada kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan perhitungan uji t diperoleh t0 = 2, 68 ≥ 2,00. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media monopoli puisi (mopis) berpengaruh postif terhadap pembelajaran menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Cerme-Gresik. Hal tersebut juga terbukti dari hasil angket respon siswa kelas eksperimen menunjukkan respon positif.

    The background of this study is the presence of students’ ability to write poetry who still have not reached the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). In this study the monopoly poetry (mopis) media was used as an alternative to improve students' ability to write poetry. The objectives achieved in the study were (1) to describe the implementation of monopoly poetry (mopis) media in learning to write poetry, (2) to describe the influence of monopoly poetry (mopis) on the ability to write poetry, and (3) to describe students’ responses after learning to write poetry using monopoly poetry (mopis) media.

    The study used an experimental study with descriptive quantitative methods. This study included the type of true experimental design or true research. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Cerme-Gresik, while the sample used was class VIII-J as the control class and VIII-I as the experimental class. Data collection techniques were observation, tests and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used formulas to calculate student and teacher activity, prites and posttest results, and the results of students response questionnaires.     The results showed that the application of the monopoly poetry media (mopis) in poetry writing learning took place well and fluently. The ability to write poetry in class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Cerme-Gresik increased. In the control class, the average score was 69,55, while the post-test average was increased to 75,56. In the experimental class the average value of pretest was 67,72, while the post-test score was 82,39. The experimental class improvement was higher when compared to the control class. Based on the calculation of the t test obtained t0 = 2,68 ≥ 2,00. This shows that the use of monopoly poetry (mopis) media has a positive effect on the learning of writing poetry of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Cerme-Gresik. This is also evident from the results of the questionnaire responses of the experimental class students showing a positive response.
