Jalan Pacuan Kuda merupakan salah satu jalan yang berada di

Kota Surabaya yang telah mengalami modernisasi dari

perkembangan kota Surabaya. Jalan Pacuan Kuda Surabaya

memiliki nama yang cukup unik. Penamaan suatu jalan tidak serta

merta dipilih secara acak. Ada unsur tertentu mengapa nama

Pacuan Kuda diabadikan dalam nama jalan. Jalan Pacuan Kuda

sudah eksis sejak zaman kolonial Belanda. Toponimi merupakan

ilmu yang mempelajari nama-nama tempat. Dengan penelitian

sejarah, kajian toponimi dapat menjawab asal usul penaman suatu

tempat. Dari latar belakang tersebut terbentuklah rumusan

masalah (1) Bagaimana asal usul eksistensi Jalan Pacuan Kuda

Surabaya? (2) Bagaimana Toponimi jalan Pacuan Kuda Surabaya?

Hasil dalam penelitian ini adalah 1. Eksistensi Jalan Pacuan Kuda

sudah ada sejak tahun 1926. Jalan Pacuan Kuda merupakan

wilayah situs balap Sawahan. Jalan Pacuan Kuda merupakan jalan

akses dari jalan utama menuju lintasan balap Sawahan. 2.

Toponimi Jalan Pacuan Kuda telah berubah sebanyak 2 kali yaitu

pada tahun 1937 bernama Renbaanweg dan tahun 1950 bernama

Djalan Patjuan Kuda.

Pacuan Kuda Street is one of the roads in the city of Surabaya

which has undergone modernization from the development of the

city of Surabaya. Surabaya Pacuan Kuda Street has a name that is

formed (1) What is the origin of the existence of the Surabaya

Pacuan Kuda Street? (2) What is the toponymy of the Surabaya

Pacuan Kuda Street? The results of this study are 1. The existence

of the Pacuan Kuda Street has existed since 1926. The Pacuan Kuda

Street is the area of the Sawahan racing site. The Pacuan Kuda

Street is an access road from the main street to the Sawahan race

track. 2. The toponymy of the Pacuan Kuda Street has changed 2

times, namely in 1937 it was named Renbaanweg and in 1950 it

was named Jalan Patjuan Kuda.
