THE IMPLEMENTATION OF WEB-BASED PEN PAL IN LEARNING WRITING RECOUNT TEXT

    Menerapkan metode dan alat pembelajaran yang terbaik dan cocok dalam proses belajar menulis merupakan hal yang penting. Dalam hal ini, guru menggunakan kegiatan bertukar surat berbasis web sebagai alat untuk belajar menulis. Menulis surat adalah cara sederhana untuk membuat siswa menulis, dan bertukar surat dapat menjadi cara yang menyenangkan untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Biasanya, bertukar surat dilakukan secara tradisional menggunakan kertas dan pena, tetapi dalam penelitian ini berbasis website. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implementasi bertukar surat dengan sahabat pena berbasis web sebagai alat belajar menulis teks recount, dan respon siswa terhadap penerapan kegiatan tersebut. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 8 SMPN 1 Wonoayu. Peneliti menggunakan lembar observasi dan mengadakan wawancara dengan beberapa siswa yang terlibat.   

    Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan kegiatan bertukar surat berbasis web dapat digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran menulis teks recount karena situs web tersebut bersifat interaktif. Situs web ini juga menyediakan fasilitas yang bisa membuat proses belajar menulis menjadi lebih mudah. Selain itu, banyak siswa menikmati penggunaan teknologi modern karena dapat memberi banyak manfaat untuk mereka dalam proses belajar menulis.

    It is very important to apply the best and suitable method and tool in learning writing process. In this case, the teacher used a web-based pen pal as a tool to learn writing. Writing letter is the simple way to make the students write, and exchanging letters can be a fun way to learn English. Usually, pen pal project is done traditionally using paper and pen, but this study used a web-based pen pal. This research study aimed to know the implementation of a web-based pen pal as a tool to learn writing recount text, and the students’ responses toward the implementation of web-based pen pal. The subject of the study was the students of 8th graders of SMPN 1 Wonoayu. In order to know the implementation of web-based pen pal in learning writing recount text, the researcher used observation sheets. Moreover, to find out the students’ responses, the researcher held an interview with some of the students.

    The result of the study showed that the implementation of web-based pen pal could be used in the learning process of writing recount text. The web-based pen pal also provided facilities that could make the learning process of writing became easier. Furthermore, many students enjoyed the use of modern technology and the pen pal activity using website due to the fact that it could gave them many benefits in learning writing process.
