Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah banyaknya pemberitaan melalui media belakangan ini terkait pencemaran lingkungan yang disebabkan botol plastik. Sampah botol plastik menumpuk akibat manusia yang selalu bergantung memakai plastik dan setelah tidak terpakai dibuang begitu saja. kurangnya pengolahan limbah botol plastik adalah salah satu jawaban dari banyaknya masalah. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti memanfaatkan sampah botol plastik digunakan sebagai bahan penguat paper mache.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan eksperimen proses pembuatan paper mache, untuk mengetahui botol plastik sebagai alternatif kerangka penguat karya tiga dimensi.

Prosedur eksperimen meliputi pengolahan botol plastik, pengolahan kertas, dan pembuatan karya. Adapun proses pengolahan kertas adalah direndam, diblender, dan disaring. Eksperimen ini memiliki konsep menggunakan sampah botol plastik sebagai penguat paper mache. Perwujudan karyanya adalah berbagai benda terapan dan figur.

Berdasarkan dari data perbandingan pada pengaplikasian di botol plastik, perbandingan I mudah ditempel namun perlu ketelitian, perbandingan II mudah ditempel, perbandingan III sedikit sulit ditempel, perbandingan IV sulit ditempel namun butuh ketelitian, dan perbandingan V mudah ditempel. Kemudaian terdapat dua data perbandingan dari ketujuh perbandingan yang tidak sesuai kriteria keberhasilan yaitu perbandingan I dan VII. Berdasarkan dari hasil proses peangaplikasian tersebut dapat dilakukan penarikan kesimpulan bahwa campuran perbandingan II dan perbandingan V menghasilkan perbandingan yang pengaplikasiannya baik serta hasil yang bagus.

The background of this research is the amount of news through the media lately related to environmental pollution caused by plastic bottles. Plastic bottle piles accumulate due to people who always depend on using plastic and after unused just thrown away. The lack of plastic bottle waste treatment is one of the answer to many problems. In this study, researchers used plastic bottle waste as a reinforcement material for paper mache.

The purpose of this research is to find out and describe experiments in the process of making paper mache, to find out plastic bottles as an alternative reinforcement framework for three dimensional works

Experimental procedures include processing plastic bottles, processing paper, and making works. As for the paper processing process is soaked, blended, and filtered. This experiment has the concept of using plastic bottle bins as paper mache reinforcement, the embodiment of his work is a variety of applied objects and figures.

Based on comperative data on the application in plastic bottles, comparison I is easy to stick but needs accuracy, comparison II is easy to stick, comparison III is a little difficult to stick, comparison IV is hard to stick but it requires accuracy, comparison V is easy to stick. Then there are two comparative data of the seven comparisons that do not fit the success criteria is comparative data I and VII. Based on the results of the application process, a conclusion can be drawn that has good application and good results.
