PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SANDPAPER LETTER TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENGENAL HURUF BAGI SISWA TUNAGRAHITA RINGAN

Siswa tunagrahita ringan di SLB Negeri Gedangan mengalami permasalahan dalam mengenal huruf, seperti kesulitan mengingat bentuk dan bunyi huruf. Hal ini dapat menghambat proses pembelajaran, sehingga diperlukan solusi untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut melalui media sandpaper letter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media sandpaper letter terhadap kemampuan mengenal huruf bagi siswa tunagrahita ringan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimen one-group pretest-posttest dan melibatkan subjek berjumlah 6 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes lalu dianalisis menggunakan statistik non parametrik dengan rumus uji tanda (sign test). Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai pretest dan posttest yaitu dari 63,33 menjadi 71,45. Dari analisis rumus uji tanda, diperoleh Z hitung sebesar 2,05 dan nilai Z tabel dalam signifikansi 5% untuk pengujian dua sisi adalah 1,96 sedangkan hasil uji dari SPSS menunjukkan nilai signifikansi Exact Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,031 yang menandakan lebih kecil dari taraf signifikansi 0,05 sehingga H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa ada pengaruh penggunaan media sandpaper letter terhadap kemampuan mengenal huruf bagi siswa tunagrahita ringan.

Students with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Gedangan experience difficulties in recognizing letters, such as difficulty remembering the shape and sound of letters. This can hinder the learning process, therefore a solution is needed to overcome this problem through the use of sandpaper letter media. This study aims to determine the effect of using sandpaper letter media on letter recognition ability among students with mild intellectual disabilities. This research employed a quantitative method using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design and involved 6 student participants. Data were collected through tests and analyzed using nonparametric statistics with the sign test formula. The study showed that the average score increased from 63,33 (pretest) to 71,45 (posttest). Based on the sign test analysis, the calculated Z-value was 2.05, while the Z-table value at a 5% significance level for a two-tailed test was 1.96. Additionally, The SPSS analysis showed an Exact Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.031, which is less than the 0.05 level of significance, indicating that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. These findings demonstrate that the use of sandpaper letter media has a significant effect on the letter recognition ability of students with mild intellectual disabilities.
