This research and development study aims to produce a
Total Communication (Komtal)–based tutorial video as an entrepreneurship
learning medium for students with hearing impairments, particularly in the
practice of making Sticky Milky Drink , in order to enhance conceptual
understanding, vocational skills, and entrepreneurial independence.
The approach employed was Research and Development
using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development,
implementation, and evaluation stages. The subjects involved were students with
hearing impairments in a special school (SLB). Data were collected through
validation by subject-matter experts, media experts, and practitioners, teacher
practicality questionnaires, as well as pre-test and post-test to measure the
effectiveness of the media. Data analysis was conducted using both quantitative
and qualitative methods, while effectiveness testing employed the Wilcoxon
Signed Rank Test.
The results indicate that the Komtal-based tutorial
video falls into the very valid category based on evaluations by subject-matter
experts, media experts, and practitioners. The media demonstrate appropriate
visual design, clarity of sign language delivery, and completeness of content
aligned with the Learning Outcomes (CP) and Learning Objective Flow (ATP) of
the Entrepreneurship subject in special schools, with a composition of 30%
academic and 70% vocational content. The level of practicality is high, as the
media are easy to use both in classroom instruction and independent learning.
Media effectiveness is evidenced by the Wilcoxon test results, which show a
significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05),
indicating improvements in students’ understanding, practical skills, and
entrepreneurial independence.
Overall, the Total Communication–based tutorial video
is proven to be feasible as an entrepreneurship learning medium for students
with hearing impairments. The use of this media supports inclusive,
communicative, and contextual vocational learning and contributes to improving
the quality of learning experiences as well as students’ readiness to face the
world of work and entrepreneurial activities.
