PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN EKSTRAK KULIT BUAH MANGGIS TERHADAP KUALITAS SABUN TRANSPARAN

THE EFFECT OF ADDITION OF MANGOSTEEN FRUIT SKIN EXTRACTS ON THE QUALITY OF TRANSPARENT SOAP

Abstrak

Sabun tansparan merupakan jenis sabun batang yang digunakan sebagai pembersih wajah dan badan yang menghasilkan busa lembut di kulit. Sabun yang baik berfungsi untuk membersihkan, tidak merusak kulit dan dapat melindungi kulit dari radikal bebas. Senyawa untuk menetralisasikan radikal bebas salah satunya adalah kulit buah manggis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ekstrak kulit buah manggis terhadap kualitas sabun transparan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen. Variabel bebas penelitian ini adalah penambahan ekstrak kulit buah manggis 0,1%, 0,15%, 0,2%, 0,3%. Variabel terikat adalah sifat fisik yang meliputi aroma, warna, tekstur, daya buih dan pH. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi yang dilakukan oleh 30 orang. Analisis data menggunakan analisis varian tunggal (one way anova) dan uji lanjut Duncan dengan bantuan program SPSS versi 16. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penambahan ekstrak kulit buah manggis terhadap sifat fisik meliputi aroma, warna, tekstur, dan daya buih pada sabun transparan. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi penambahan ekstrak kulit buah manggis sifat fisik sabun yang dihasilkan, warna semakin coklat, beraroma minyak dan ekstrak buah manggis, tekstur lunak dan berminyak, dan daya buih yang dihasilkan sedikit berbusa. Adapun hasil uji pH sabun transparan ekstrak kulit buah manggis dapat diketahui bahwa keempat sampel sabun transparan memilki jumlah rata-rata 8,08 (berkisar  8,1), sehingga keempat sampel sabun transparan ekstrak kulit buah manggis sampai hari ke 5 masih dapat digunakan dan masih memenuhi  syarat mutu sabun transparan yang ditetapkan oleh Badan Standarisasi Nasional No. SNI 06-3532-1994, umumnya pH sabun  mandi berkisar antara 8-11(SNI, 1996).

Abstract

Tansparan soap is a type of bar soap that is used as a facial and body cleanser that produces soft foam on the skin. A good soap works to cleanse, not damage the skin and can protect the skin from free radicals. One of the compounds to neutralize free radicals is mangosteen rind. This study aims to determine the effect of adding mangosteen rind extract to the quality of transparent soap. The kind of research is experiments. The independent variable of this study was the addition of mangosteen rind extract 0.1%, 0.15%, 0.2%, and 0.3%. Bound variables are physical properties that include the aroma, color, texture, foam and pH. Data collection techniques using observation sheets conducted by 30 people. Data analysis used single way analysis (one way ANOVA) and Duncan's follow-up test with the help of SPSS version 16. The results showed that there was an effect of the addition of mangosteen rind extract on physical properties including aroma, color, texture, and froth on transparent soap.the higher the concentration of the addition of mangosteen rind extract the physical properties of the resulting soap is increasingly brown, scented oil and mangosteen rind extract, soft and oily texture, and the froth produced less foaming. As for the results of the pH test of transparent soap mangosteen rind extract can be seen that the four transparent soap samples have an average amount of 8.08 (around 8.1), that the four transparent soap samples of mangosteen rind extract until the fifth day can still be used and are still under the quality requirements of transparent soap established by the National Standardization Agency No. SNI 06-3532-1994, the pH of soap is not determined by standards, but generally the pH of bath soap ranges between 8-11 (SNI, 1996).
