This study aims to produce appropriate science guided
inquiry models with flipbook media to practice
critical thinking skills of junior high school students on the Human
Respiratory System topic. Learning sets
developed include Learning Implementation Plans, Flipbook Media, LKPD,
and Critical Thinking Skills Tests.
The development of the sets is a modification of the 4-D model that was
tested on eighth grade students of the even semester in 2019/2020 academic year
and repeated twice. The set trial research design uses One-Group
Pretest-Posttest Design. Data collections uses validation, observation, test,
and questionnaires methods. The research data resulted were validity, practicality, and
effectiveness of the learning sets analyzed descriptively quantitative and
qualitative. The results showed that (a) learning sets developed were
categorized as very valid, (b) learning activities were carried out very well
with an average score of 3.69, (c) student activities in learning were carried
out very well, (d) students' responses to learning inquiry was very good (95.99%),
and (e) the results of students' critical thinking tests had a high increase,
critical thinking skills increased from 28.37 (Very Less Critical) to 81.21
(Critical). The conclusion of science learning sets guided inquiry learning
models with flipbook media developed is appropriate to be used to train
students' critical thinking skills.
