Sports is an activity that
can be done by many people who aim to improve fitness and maintain a healthy
body, it is not realised that many people's work is related to sports or
physical, for example high knees, walking up and down stairs, lifting goods, or
throwing or running. A person's ability to respond to a stimulus with a
movement or series of movements as quickly as possible is known as speed, which
is estimated as the distance travelled divided by the duration required. There
are several exercises that can improve speed and strength, such as high
shoulder exercises. High shoulder training is a type of dynamic strength
training that aims to increase the forces that contribute to movement,
especially in the sport of pencak silat which requires the explosive power of
leg muscles. This exercise involves several quick explosive jumps. This
exercise will significantly increase strength and endurance if done regularly.
The crescent kick is a kicking technique that targets the entire side of the
opponent's body with the instep or toe. Pencak silat is a form of martial arts
involving traditional self-defence movements that are original to our ancestral
heritage is one of Indonesia's original cultures that contains cultural values,
traditions or sacred customs that can develop from time to time and grow
rapidly in Indonesia to foreign countries that have their own history.
The technique used in the
following study is quantitative research through experimental techniques. The
study design uses pre-test and post-test. This study focuses on experiments in
collecting and analysing data in the form of numbers and quantitative data and
using statistical calculations. Based on the findings of the study which
indicates that the test shows 0.070 because the significant score is >0.05.
Then it can be called the data for the right leg sickle kick is normal, while
the left leg test shows that the test shows an effect of 0.070 because the
significant score is> 0.05. Then it can be called the data for the left leg
sickle kick is normal and the free leg shows an effect of 0.091 because the
significant score is> 0.05. The results of hypothesis testing with the
Paired Sample Test show the pre-test and post-test results for the right leg
sickle kick (0.265), left leg (0.6337), and free leg (0.169) with a significant
value >0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that high knee training does not have
a significant effect on sickle kick speed in Cempaka Putih pencak silat
athletes in Ngawi Regency.
