Membaca merupakan salah satu keterampilan dasar yang terdapat dalam bahasa Jerman. Keterampilan membaca bukanlah sesuatu yang mudah, karena membaca membutuhkan banyak kosakata yang harus dikuasai. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara yang dilakukan oleh peneliti, bahwa peserta didik masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami teks bacaan bahasa Jerman yang disebabkan karena kurangnya kosakata yang dikuasai oleh peserta didik. Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang bisa dipakai dalam keterampilan membaca bahasa Jerman yaitu metode Total Physical Response. Metode Total Physical Response adalah metode pengajaran bahasa asing dengan mengembangkan pemahaman menyimak melalui serangkaian perintah dimana peserta didik merespon dengan aktivitas fisik (VeraSavic, 2014: 447). Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana hasil belajar keterampilan membaca bahasa Jerman peserta didik kelas XI dengan menggunakan metode Total Physical Response. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar keterampilan membaca bahasa Jerman peserta didik kelas XI dengan menggunakan metode Total Physical Response. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah nilai hasil tes keterampilan membaca peserta didik berupa skor nilai. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali pertemuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar untuk keterampilan membaca bahasa jerman peserta didik kelas XI dengan metode Total Physical Response mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan data nilai hasil tes peserta didik dari pertemuan pertama sampai pertemuan kedua. Ada 9 peserta didik yang mengalami peningkatan dengan nilai lebih dari KKM dan ada 4 peserta didik memperoleh nilai stabil dengan nilai lebih dari KKM, sedangkan 2 peserta didik mengalami penurunan nilai lalu 3 peserta didik lainnya hanya mendapatkan nilai dari salah satu pertemuan dalam penelitian skripsi. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Total Physical Response dapat digunakan untuk  meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI dalam keterampilan membaca bahasa Jerman.

Reading is one of the basic skills that are present in the language of Germany. Reading skill is not something that is easy, because reading requires a lot of vocabulary that must be mastered. Based on the results of interviews conducted by researchers, that learners still have difficulties in understanding the language of Germany reading text that is caused due to lack of a vocabulary which is mastered by learners. One method that can be used in learning the skill of reading the language of Germany, namely the method of Total Physical Response. Methods a Total of Physical Response is a method of teaching foreign languages by developing understanding of listening through a series of commands where learners respond with physical activity (VeraSavic, 2014:447). Formulation of the problem in this research is how the results of the study skills reading Germany language learners class XI using the method of Total Physical Response. The purpose of this study was to describe the results of the study skills reading Germany language learners class XI using the method of Total Physical Response. The data in this study is the result of a reading skills test learners in the form of score values. This research was conducted as many as two times. The results showed that the results of the study to the skill of reading the German language learners class XI with the Total Physical Response method has increased. This is demonstrated by the data value of the test results of the first meeting of the participants to the second meeting. There are 9 students who have experienced an increase in value over the KKM and there are 4 learners gain rating is stable with more value than the KKM, whereas 2 learners experience a decline in the value of the then 3 other learners just get value from one of the meetings in the research thesis. Thus it can be concluded that the Total Physical Response method can be used to improve the learning outcomes of class XI students in German language reading skills.
