Based on the results of reflection carried out by the
researcher and the accompanying teacher, data obtained from the low learning
activities and student learning outcomes, given the importance of engineering
drawing subjects as the basis of knowledge of vocational students .
From the results of reflection data, student learning completeness only meets
40% of all students in the class. The purpose of this study is to: 1) Increase
student learning activities using the Problem Solving learning model; 2)
Improve student learning outcomes after using Problem Solving based learning
models.
The type and design of this study are classroom action research and
problem solving learning models, namely: 1) I can (I can / can); 2) Define; 3)
Explore (Exploring); 4) Plan (Plan); 5) Do it (do it); 6) Check
(Re-correcting); 7) Generalize (generalization): guiding students to ask
questions. The sample in this study were class X TKR 2 SMK Catholic St. Louis
Surabaya is 30 students. Analysis of student learning outcomes to determine the
increase in learning outcomes in the second cycle, analysis of student
activities using a questionnaire filled in by observers from the Catholic
Vocational School teacher St. Louis Surabaya .
The results of this study are: 1)
Positive learning activities of students increased to 76.5% in good category,
and students' negative learning activities decreased to reach 7.5% very well
categorized. ; 2) Student learning outcomes have increased to 83.3%, which has
met the targets listed on the indicators of success. Researchers suggest that
there are still some shortcomings in this study, it is expected that other
researchers will lack this later can be used as reference material to conduct
further research . .
