Mahasiswa dan Suroboyo Bus ( Studi Fenomenologi di Kalangan Mahasiswa Unesa )

STUDENT AND SUROBOYO BUS (PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDIES AMONG UNESA STUDENTS) 

Pemerintah kota Surabaya berupaya memenuhi kebutuhan transportasi umum yang layak untuk masyarakat. Hal tersebut dilakukan untuk dapat menunjang mobilitas dan mengurangi kemacetan sehingga diluncurkan bus kota yang bernama Suroboyo Bus. Suroboyo Bus menjadi jawaban terkait tuntutan masyarakat terhadap kualitas yang lebih baik dari transportasi umum sebelumnya yang ada di Kota Surabaya. Suroboyo Bus yang sudah layak, aman, nyaman, dan fasilitas memadai tetapi masih ditemukan sedikitnya penumpang. Sedikitnya minat masyarakat dalam penggunaan Suroboyo Bus, salah satunya dari kalangan Mahasiswa Unesa. Kampus Unesa yang telah dilalui oleh rute Suroboyo Bus, tidak membuat mahasiswa khususnya yang berasal dari Kota Surabaya, untuk menggunakannya. Atas dasar permasalahan inilah peneliti ingin meneliti bagaimana motif mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Surabaya asal Kota Surabaya tidak menggunakan transportasi umum Suroboyo Bus. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis kondisi objektif pelayanan Suroboyo Bus pada rute PurabayaRajawali, menganalisis kondisi objektif mahasiswa Unesa asal kota Surabaya yang tidak menggunakan Suroboyo Bus, menganalisis motif sebab dan motif tujuan mahasiswa Unesa asal Kota Surabaya tidak menggunakan transportasi umum Suroboyo Bus sebagai mobilitas ke kampus. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang bersumber pada pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi disertai menggunakan perspektif teori fenomenologi Alfred Schutz untuk menganalis data penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahawa kondisi objektif Suroboyo Bus rute Purabaya-Rajawal dilihat dari pelayanan yang diberikan pada setiap halte yang dilalui. Ditemukan juga berbagai tingkat sosial ekonomi yang dimiliki oleh para mahasiswa Unesa asal Kota Surabaya yang dapat membentuk gaya hidupnya. Selain itu, terdapat motif yang melatarbelakangi mahasiswa Unesa asal kota Surabaya tidak menggunakan Suroboyo Bus dan terdapat motif yang ingin dituju atau dicapai. Pengalaman dari transportasi umum sebelumnya dan pengalaman dari pernah mencoba Suroboyo Bus menjadi motif sebab. Sedangkan motif tujuannya adalah ingin datang tepat waktu ke kampus, hemat biaya pengeluaran, dan mobilitas sepeda motor lebih bebas.

The Surabaya city government has undertaken concerted efforts to fulfill the essential public transportation requirements of the local community. This initiative was undertaken with the aim of enhancing mobility and alleviating congestion, leading to the introduction of the Suroboyo Bus within the city. The Suroboyo Bus represents an improved alternative to the previous public transportation system in Surabaya, characterized by its commendable quality, safety, comfort, and adequate facilities. However, the ridership of the Suroboyo Bus remains relatively low, with limited public interest in its utilization, including among students of Surabaya State University (Unesa). Despite the fact that the Suroboyo Bus route traverses the Unesa campus, students from Surabaya show little inclination to utilize this mode of transportation. In light of this issue, researchers aim to investigate the factors underlying the reluctance of Unesa students from Surabaya to use the Suroboyo Bus as their preferred means of commuting. The objective of this study is to analyze the objective conditions of the Suroboyo Bus service along the Purabaya-Rajawali route, analyze the objective conditions of Unesa students from Surabaya who did not use the Suroboyo Bus, and to examine the motives that deter Unesa students from Surabaya from adopting the Suroboyo Bus for their daily commute to campus. Employing a qualitative approach, this study will employ data collection methods such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, accompanied by the application of Alfred Schutz's phenomenological theory to analyze the research findings. The study's outcomes reveal that the objective condition of the Suroboyo Bus service on the Purabaya-Rajawali route can be evaluated based on the quality of services rendered at each bus stop. Various socio-economic levels owned by Unesa students from Surabaya could shape their lifestyle. Moreover, it is evident that Unesa students from Surabaya possess specific motives for abstaining from the use of the Suroboyo Bus, while also harboring motives they aspire to fulfill. The motive for abstaining stems from prior experiences with the existing public transportation system and their encounters with the Suroboyo Bus itself. Conversely, the motives to achieve entail punctuality in reaching campus, cost savings, and the perceived freedom associated with motorcycle mobility.
