Studi ini berkaitan dengan analisis strategi kesantunan dalam novel Orhan Pamuk The Museum of Innocence berdasarkan perspektif pragmastylistik. Analisis ini berfokus pada ujaran ujaran yang dihasilkan oleh tokoh utama, Kemal dan Fusun ketika mereka berkomunikasi satu sama lain. Kesantunan adalah sebagai cara untuk menghindari konflik dan membangun hubungan interpersonal yang harmonis. Untuk menyelamatkan wajah pendengar, seorang pembicara diharapkan untuk menggunakan strategi kesantunan. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan ragam strategi kesantunan yang digunakan oleh Kemal dan Fusun sebagai tokoh utama pada novel The Museum of Innocence tersebut dan menggambarkan bagaimana ragam strategi kesantunan diwujudkan dalam ujaran ujaran mereka.
Dalam penelitian ini, pendekatan kualitatif digunakan karena data yang digunakan dalam bentuk kumpulan kata, frasa, kalimat dan metode analisis isi yang digunakan untuk menganalisis kesantunan yang digunakan oleh tokoh utama dalam novel tersebut, yang mana akan menghasilkan informasi deskriptif dan memberi pemahaman yang lebih jelas dan lebih baik mengenai masalah yang diteliti. Adapun langkah langkah yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah membaca novel dengan seksama, menandai ujaran tokoh utama, dan mengidentifikasi data sesuai dengan focus penelitian. Sedangkan langkah langkah yang digunakan untuk menganalisis adalah mengelompokkan ragam kesantunan yang digunakan oleh Kemal dan Fusun dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana ragam kesantunan tersebut digunakan oleh Kemal dan Fusun.
Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Kemal dan Fusun menggunakan empat jenis strategi kesantunann yang diusulkan oleh Brown dan Levinson yaitu strategi kesantunan bald on record, strategi kesantunan positif, strategi kesantunan negative, dan strategi kesantunan off record. Frekuensi penggunaan ke empat strategi tersebut menunjukan bahwa Kemal dan Fusun lebih sering menggunakan strategi kesantunan positif dari pada strategi strategi yang lainnya, kemudian diikuti oleh kesantunan negative, off record, dan bald on record Penerapan strategi kesantunan digunakan oleh Kemal dan Fusun adalah nonminimalisasi dan berorientasi FTA, lima belas ragam untuk Kemal dan tiga belas ragam untuk Fusun dari lima belas ragam kesantunan positif, tujuh ragam kesantunan negatif dari sepuluh ragam kesantunan negatif, dan delapan ragam untuk Kemal dan sembilan ragam untuk Fusun dari lima belas ragam kesantunan off record. Selain itu, ujaran Kemal dan Fusun dibangun melalui komponen kohesi tata bahasa dan kohesi leksikal. Komponen yang muncul adalah referensi, substitusi, ellipsis, konjungsi, pengulangan, sinonim, antonim, dan kolokasi.
Berdasarkan temuan diatas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ragam strategi kesantunan yang digunakan adalah strategi bald on record, strategi kesantunan positif, strategi kesantunan negatif, dan strategi off record. Untuk mewujudkan keempat ragam strategi tersebut, Kemal dan Fusun mengeksploitasi non minimalisasi dan berorientasi FTA, lima belas ragam untuk Kemal dan tiga belas ragam untuk Fusun dari lima belas ragam strategi kesantunan positif, tujuh ragam kesantunan negatif dari sepuluh ragam kesantunan negatif, dan delapan ragam untuk Kemal dan sembilan ragam untuk Fusun dari lima belas ragam strategi kesantunan off record. Selain itu, ujaran ujaran Kemal dan Fusun di wujudkan melalui komponen kohesi dengan menggunakan referensi baik anapora maupun katapora, substitusi, ellipsis, konjungsi, pengulangan, sinonim, antonim, dan kolokasi.

This study is concerned with the analysis of politeness strategies in Orhan Pamuk novel The Museum of Innocence based on pragmastylistic perspectives. The analysis focuses on the utterances produced by Kemal and Fusun when they communicate with each other. Politeness is as a means to avoid conflicts and establish harmonious interpersonal relationships. In order to save the hearers face, a speaker is expected to use politeness strategy. Therefore, the aims of the research are to investigate the kinds of politeness strategies used by Kemal and Fusun and to describe how those kinds of strategies realized in their utterances
In this study, a qualitative research employed since the data are in the form of words and content analysis method applied in order to know the phenomena occur in this novel. But qualitative data are completed with the quantitative data since it deals with counting the frequency of the occurrence of linguistic features as an important tool in pragmastylistic analysis. The processes of collecting the data are reading the novel, quoting the dialogues, selecting the utterances, highlighting the utterances, and extracting and coding the utterances. When it is through it meant that the provided data can be readily used for analysis. While in analyzing the data in order to answer the research questions the steps used classifying the kinds of politeness strategies applied by Kemal and Fusun in Orhan Pamuk The Museum of Innocence and describing how those strategies are realized in their utterances.
The findings showed that Kemal and Fusun applied the four kinds of politeness strategies proposed by Brown and Levinson. They are bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. From the four politeness strategies, positive politeness strategy is the highest prominent strategy which applied by Kemal and Fusun. Then, it is followed by negative politeness, off record, and bald on record. Positive politeness used in order to keep positive face by showing intimacy and camaraderie, attracting to relationship, building interlocutor comfortable, and stressing the two interlocutors require the same end. Negative politeness is applied by giving attention to negative face. Negative face is showed by showing the distance among interlocutors, and by shunning disturbing each other. Off record is applied to keep the distance between speaker and hearer by asking for indirectly. Bald on record applied to give advice, requests, offers, or invitation openly, directly, and unambiguously. The realization of politeness strategies which are used by Kemal and Fusun are the two kinds of bald on record, fifteen kinds for Kemal and thirteen kinds for Fusun from fifteen kinds of positive politeness, eight kinds of negative politeness from ten kinds of negative politeness, and eight kinds for Kemal and nine kinds for Fusun from fifteen kinds of off record. Besides, Kemal and Fusun built up their utterances through the components of grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion. The components which appeared are reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction, repetition, synonym, antonym, and collocation.
Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the kinds of politeness strategies which are used are bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. To realize the four kinds of strategies, Kemal and Fusun exploited non minimization and FTA oriented, fifteen kinds for Kemal and thirteen kinds for Fusun from fifteen kinds of positive politeness strategies, seven kinds from ten kinds of negative politeness, and eight kinds for Kemal and nine kinds for Fusun from fifteen kinds of off record politeness strategies. Besides, the utterances also exploited through references, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction, repetition, synonym, antonym and collocation.
