Parents are the first place for the education of
their children who are expected to be able to educate and guide so that their
children can grow and develop in a peaceful environment as well as able to
inherit cultural values, one of which is the values of nationalism. These
adults, the use of digital tools as a learning medium in the long term does not
guarantee that students will be able to understand the learning material that
has been given to teachers. Similarly, when parents and family members have weak
control, they can easily engage in all sorts of acts of asylum. Progress in
practice has made it easier to access the internet, social media, and online
gaming. The children lack knowledge in the classification of foreign cultures
that have entered our nation, so able to give the impression that all foreign
culture is worthy of imitation. This is what is causing the decline of morality
among the elementary school students. Moral degradation is viewed not only as a
degeneration of the identity of a nation, but also as a deterioration of values
and quality of life.
The aim of this study is to know the role of
parents in raising the nationalism of students of 3rd grade SD Islam Nurul Hikam. This research uses qualitative research that
is included in the type of qualitatively descriptive research. The subject of
this study is the parents of a student of the third grade SD Islam Nurul Hikam
who numbered 20 people. The data collection technique in this study uses
observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use the
Miles & Huberman model that consists of data reduction stages, data
presentation, and verification. To test the credibility of the data, researchers
use triangulation techniques and researchers also use coding to make it easier
for readers to understand. The results of the study show that parents have
increased the nationalism of third-grade students at Nurul Hikam Islamic School
by introducing Indonesian history, introducing the history and culture of
Indonesia through books or films with national themes, inviting visit to
national monuments, museums, and temples. Includes students to participate in
Indonesian Independence HUT services, such as races, festivals, and street
movements. As for the obstacles that parents encounter in increasing the
nationalism of pupils, such as the limitation of parents' time with their
children because of working parents, environmental influences, ease of access
to electronic media or the Internet, and limited resources. Parents' strategy
in overcoming the above obstacles is to always monitor and accompany students
when they access the internet, always share surveillance tasks with other
family members, use videos from youtube or positive information from the
internet to find information on national themes.
