Pengembangan media big book sangat sesuai dilakukan sebagai alat pendukung keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa. Media pembelajaran membaca yang menarik dan sesuai untuk dikembangkan adalah media big book karena media tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai alat peraga untuk memperjelas materi pembelajaran yang terdapat pada buku tematik mata pelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan kualitas, proses, dan efektivitas pengembangan media big book dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan Research and Development (R&D). Desain pengembagan ini adalah model ADDIE Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh prosedur pengembangan big book disesuaikan degan desain nodel ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahapan yaitu: analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Kualitas materi dalam pengembangan media big book diperoleh persentase nilai rata-rata sebanyak 91,85% dengan pemerolehan skor 3,7 sehingga layak digunakan dan di ujicobakan, kualitas media diperoleh persentase nilai rata-rata sebanyak 83,35% sedangkan kualitas perangkat pembelajaran diperoleh skor rata-rata sebanyak 87,06% sehingga layak digunakan dan di ujicobakan di lapangan. Efektivitas media big book pada uji coba I sebesar 62,5 sedangkan pada uji coba II sebesar 87,5 dengan demikian hasil penilaian membaca permulaan uji coba I dan uji coba II meningkat secara signifikan setelah menggunakan media big book sedangkan hasil penilaian membaca permulaan mencapai nilai rata-rata sebanyak 84 dengan rata-rata skor perolehan 5 katagori sangat baik. sehingga diperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat kualitas, prosedu, dan efektivitas terhadap penggunaan media big book pada keterampilan membaca permulaan.

Big book media development is very suitable to be done as a support tool for students initial reading skills. Interesting and appropriate reading media for development are big book media because the media can be used as teaching aids to clarify learning material contained in thematic books on subjects. The purpose of ths study is to describe the quality, process, and effectiveness of big book media development in early reading learning. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) research. The design of this development is the ADDIE model. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study, the procedure for developing the big book media was adjusted to the design of the ADDIE model which consisted of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The quality of the material in the development of big book media was obtained by the percentage of the average value of 91.85% with the acquisition of a score of 3.7 so that it was feasible to be used and tested, the quality of the media obtained an average value of 83.35% while the quality of the learning device obtained a score an average of 87.06% so it is worthy of being used and tested in the field. The effectiveness of the big book media in trial I was 62.5 while in trial II it was 87.5, so the results of the assessment of reading the beginning of trial I and trial II increased significantly after using the big book media while the results of the initial readng assessment reached average scores. average of 84 with an average score of 5catagories very good. So that the results obtained there are qualities, procedures, and effectiveness of the use of big book media on students initial reading skills.
