MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT STATISTICAL LITERACY BASED ON ADVERSITY QUOTIENT
Literasi statistik sangat dibutuhkan dalam membaca, menginterpretasi, menyimpulkan serta mengomunikasikan data. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi yaitu Adversity Quotient (AQ) yang memuat dimensi dasar sehingga menentukan sikap siswa ketika dihadapkan kesulitan yang berkaitan dengan soal literasi statistik. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan literasi statistik siswa SMP ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient (AQ). Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 3 siswa yang dipilih dari 31 siswa berdasarkan hasil Adversity Response Profile dengan kategori 1 subjek memiliki AQ tipe climber, 1 subjek memiliki AQ tipe camper, 1 subjek memiliki AQ tipe quitter, ketiga subjek tersebut diberikan tes soal literasi statistik dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) literasi statistik siswa dengan AQ tipe climber mampu membaca data; dalam menginterpretasi data belum mampu menyajikan data ke dalam bentuk diagram yang sesuai; menyimpulkan data; dalam mengomunikasikan data belum mampu membuat kritik terhadap data yang disajikan, dikategorikan pada level critical. (2) Literasi statistik siswa dengan AQ tipe camper mampu membaca data; dalam menginterpretasi data belum mampu membuat diagram yang sesuai; dalam menyimpulkan dan menghubungkan data dengan fenomena di sekitarnya mengetahui terminology statistika namun tidak diterapkan; dalam mengomunikasikan data belum mampu memberikan evaluasi dan kritik, dikategorikan pada level inconsistant. (3) Literasi statistik siswa dengan AQ tipe quitter mampu membaca data; dalam menginterpretasi data belum mampu membuat diagram yang sesuai dan menerapkan konsep pemusatan data; dalam menyimpulkan masih menggunakan alasan non-satatistik; dalam mengomunikasikan data belum mampu memberikan evaluasi dan kritik, dikategorikan pada level informal.
Statistical literacy is needed in reading, interpreting, concluding and communicating data. One of the influencing factors was the Adversity Quotient (AQ) which contains four basic dimensions, so that it determined students' attitudes when faced with difficulties related to statistical literacy problems. This study was aimed to describe the statistical literacy of middle school students based on Adversity Quotient (AQ). The type of research was descriptive research with qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 3 students selected from 31 students based on the results of the Adversity Response Profile with category 1 subject having a climber AQ type, 1 subject having a camper AQ type, 1 subject having a quitter AQ type, the three subjects were given statistical literacy tests and interviews. The results showed that (1) statistical literacy students with climber type AQ were able to read data; in interpreting the data has not been able to present the data in appropriate diagrams; conclude data; in communicating data has not been able to make a critique of the data presented, categorized at the critical level. (2) Statistical literacy students with camper type AQ are able to read data; in interpreting the data has not been able to make the appropriate diagram; in concluding and connecting data with surrounding phenomena, she known about the statistical terminology but did not apply it; in communicating data has not been able to provide evaluation and criticism, categorized at the inconsistent level. (3) Statistical literacy students with quitter type AQ are able to read data; in interpreting the data has not been able to make appropriate diagrams and apply the concept of measure of tendency; in concluding and connecting data with surrounding phenomena, it was based on non-statistical reason; in communicating data has not been able to provide evaluation and criticism, categorized at the informal level.
