Pengajaran sastra mengharuskan siswa untuk menguasai empat aspek berbahasa, salah satunya adalah menulis. Pada dasarnya kemampuan menulis setiap siswa tidaklah sama, misalkan dalam menulis puisi. Jika dilihat dari keadaan pembelajaran menulis puisi di sekolah, kegiatan pembelajaran puisi bukan suatu hal yang mudah diajarkan ke peserta didik. Ditinjau dari tes uji kemampuan menulis yang telah dilakukan hasilnya masih di bawah rata-rata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode pembelajaran ARIAS, keefektifan metode pembelajaran ARIAS, respon belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi melalui metode pembelajaran ARIAS dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Pagu Kediri.

Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian true eksperimental design. Penelitian dilakukan melalui dua tahap yaitu pretes dan postes. Pretes dilakukan sebelum siswa mendapatkan perlakuan dan postes dilakukan setelah siswa mendapatkan perlakuan.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Pagu Kediri sebelum mendapatkan perlakuan penerapan metode ARIAS masih rendah. Terbukti dari hasil nilai pretes kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen yang belum memenuhi Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal/KKM yaitu 75. Nilai rerata siswa kelas eksperimen yaitu 57,8 dan nilai rerata siswa kelas kontrol 57,6.

Hasil postes untuk mengetahui kemampuan menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Pagu Kediri setelah mendapatkan perlakuan penerapan metode ARIAS mengalami peningkatan. Dilihat dari nilai rerata postes kelas eksperimen yaitu 83,7 dan 29 siswa yang mencapai nilai di atas KKM. Rerata nilai postes kelas kontrol yaitu 70,9 dan 19 siswa yang mencapai nilai di atas KKM. Hasil perhitungan uji t diperoleh t₀ = 2,55 dan db = 60. Harga t di uji dengan menggunakan pengetesan satu skor pada t tabel, yakni diketahui harga t pada t tabel = 1,67, maka t hitung = 2,55 > 1,67. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat diketahui bahwa t hitung lebih besar dari t tabel sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan menulis puisi antara kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan metode ARIAS dengan kelas kontrol yang tanpa menggunakan metode ARIAS. Dengan demikian, H_o ditolak dan H_a diterima. Hal itu juga terbukti dari lembar angket yang diisi oleh siswa. Hasil angket respon belajar siswa menunjukkan mayoritas memilih Sangat Setuju dan Setuju.

Literary teaching requires student to master four aspects  of Language, one of them is writing. Basically, writing ability of every student is not same, for example ini writing poetry. Looked from the learning situation of writing poetry in school, poetry learning acitivity ia not an easy thing to teach to student. Based on the writing ability test that have been done and the result is still below average. This study aimed to describe implementation ARIAS method, the effectiveness of ARIAS learning method, student responden on writing poetry learning through ARIAS learning method in writing poetry learning student of VIII grade junior high school 1 Pagu, Kediri.

This kind of research is experimental research with quantitative descriptive method. This research uses a true eksperimental design. The research was conducted through two stages, namely pretes and postes. Pretes conducted before the student get treatment and post test conducted after student get treatment.

The mean score of the experimental class student is  57,8 and the average score of the control class student is 57,6.

The post test results to find out the poetry writing ability of student in VIII grade, junior high school 1 Pagu Kediri after setting treatment implementation of ARIAS method hasil increased. Judging from the experimental class post test scores  83,7 dan 29 student achieved grades above the KKM. The mean postes scores of the control class were 70,9 and 19 student achieved grades above the KKM. The results of  t-test calculation are obtained t0 = 2,55 and db = 60. Price t is tested using a score test on t at t table, which is known as price t at t table = 1,67, then  t count  = 2,55 > 1,67. According to this, it can be seen that the t count is greater than t table so it can be concluded that there ia a significant, different in the ability to write poetry between the experimental classes using the ARIAS method and control class without using ARIAS method. Thus, H_o is resected and H_a accepted. This is also the evident from the questionnaire sheet filled out by student. The results of the student response questionnaire indicate the majority choose strongly agree and agree.
