REPRESENTASI MATEMATIS SISWA DALAM MEMECAHKAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA
DITINJAU DARI SELF-EFFICACY SISWA
STUDENT MATHEMATICS REPRESENTATION IN SOLVING MATHEMATICS PROBLEMS
REVIEW FROM STUDENT'S SELF-EFFICACY
This research is descriptive qualitative and aims to analyze the mathematical representation skills of grade 11 students in solving mathematical problems in terms of self-efficacy. Mathematical representation is the result of student interpretation in solving a problem. Student confidence in honing problem solving skills is referred to as self-efficacy. Three students were selected using a purposive sampling technique based on the categories of high, medium and low self-efficacy. The research instrument used in this study, namely a selfefficacy questionnaire and a mathematical representation test in the form of problem solving questions. The study begins with the selection of subjects through self-efficacy questionnaire data collection. Then subjects who have been selected according to the self-efficacy category are given a representation test and interviewed. The data obtained were analyzed through the stages of qualitative research. The results showed that the mathematical representation of students with high self-efficacy can solve problems with three indicators of visual, symbolic, and verbal representation abilities. While the mathematical representation of students with moderate self-efficacy can solve problems with two indicators of visual and verbal representation abilities. Then, the mathematical representation of students with low self-efficacy can solve problems with one indicator of symbolic representation ability. Students need to train themselves in solving problem in order to achieve good representation skills and be able to increase students' self-confidence or self-efficacy.
