Implementation of Group Investigation in Problem Based Learning to Improve Problem Solving Ability on Environmental Pollution
Kemampuan pemecahan masalah memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah adalah salah satu kemampuan penting untuk menemukan solusi dari permasalahan yang akan dihadapi setiap individu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa SMP dengan penerapan group investigation dalam problem based learning pada materi pencemaran lingkungan, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran group investigation dalam problem based learning, dan respons siswa. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah one grup pretest posstest design dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII-A SMP Negeri 17 Surabaya yang berjumlah 29 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik tes, observasi, dan angket dengan instrumen berupa lembar tes soal pre-post, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan angket respons siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa meningkat setelah penerapan group investigation dalam problem based learning dengan peningkatan sebesar 0,57 berkategori sedang, keterlaksanaan proses pembelajaran terlaksana dengan baik secara keseluruhan, dan mendapatkan respon positif dari siswa. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan penerapan group investigation dalam problem based learning dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan indikator Exploring and Understanding (EU), Representing and Formulating (RF), Planning and Executing (PE), dan Monitoring and Reflecting (MR).

Problem solving abilities have an important role in everyday life. Problem solving ability is an important ability to find solutions to the problems that each individual will face. The aim of this research is to describe the improvement in problem solving abilities of junior high school students by implementing group investigation in problem based learning on environmental pollution material, the implementation of group investigation learning in problem based learning, and student responses. The research design used was a one group pretest posttest design with the research subjects being class VII-A students at SMP Negeri 17 Surabaya, totaling 29 students. The data collection techniques used in this research are test, observation and questionnaire techniques with instruments in the form of pre-post test sheets, learning implementation and student response questionnaires. The research results showed that students' problem solving abilities increased after implementing group investigation in problem based learning with an increase of 0.57 in the moderate category, the learning process was carried out well overall, and received a positive response from students. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of group investigation in problem based learning can be used to improve problem solving abilities with the indicators Exploring and Understanding (EU), Representing and Formulating (RF), Planning and Executing (PE), and Monitoring and Reflecting (MR).
