Elementary school-age children require special attention to their nutritional status to support optimal physical and mental growth, especially since nutritional problems in Indonesia remain high. Unhealthy eating patterns, such as the habit of purchasing snacks often sold around schools, can affect a child's nutritional status. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the frequency of consuming packaged snacks and packaged sweet drinks and the nutritional status of 5th and 6th-grade students at Jagir Elementary School in Surabaya. The research method used was a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The research sample consisted of 43 students, proportionally selected from 5th and 6th grades. Data on weight, height, age, and the frequency of consuming packaged snacks and sweet drinks were collected through interviews using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), and nutritional status was measured using the BMI-for-age index (IMT/U). The results showed that the frequency of consuming packaged snacks was not significantly related to students' nutritional status (p > 0.05). This was due to the relatively small contribution of snacks to daily energy intake compared to other main food sources. There was a relationship between the frequency of consuming packaged sweet drinks and the nutritional status of the students. Excessive consumption of sweet drinks can lead to nutritional issues such as obesity. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between the frequency of consuming packaged snacks and nutritional status. However, there is a relationship between the frequency of consuming packaged sweet drinks and nutritional status.
