ABSTRACT
THE EFFECT OF PIXELLAB APPLICATION ON LEARNING OUTCOMES OF
CLASS XI STUDENTS OF MULTIMEDIA DEPARTMENT IN THE SUBJECT OF
GRAPHIC DESIGN PRINTING ON TYPOGRAPHY MATERIAL AT SMK
KETINTANG SURABAYA

The quality of education cannot be separated from learning outcomes, as learning outcomes
are the output of the learning process. Therefore, learning outcomes represent a better level of
mental development compared to before learning from the perspective of the students. Teachers,
as one of the factors that influence learning outcomes, are also required to have creative and
innovative characteristics in selecting appropriate learning media. Furthermore, subjects in
vocational high schools are productive subjects, which means that they involve a lot of practice
in the learning process, so the selection of learning media to be used will greatly affect student
learning outcomes in the skill aspect.
The selection of media must be in accordance with the characteristics of the students and the
subject matter so that it can improve the quality of the learning process. Therefore, the utilization
of the PixelLab application was chosen because it is considered suitable for the characteristics of
the students and the subject matter, which is Typography Material for student of class XI
Multimedia at SMK Ketintang Surabaya, as a form of learning media to improve student
learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a significant
influence between the use of the PixelLab application and learning outcomes in the skill aspect
on Typography material for student of class XI Multimedia at SMK Ketintang Surabaya.
The research subjects consisted of 36 students each for the control and experimental groups.
The research method used in this study is quantitative research method. The research design used
is Control grup pretest-posttest Design. Data collection used observation and tests. Based on the
observation analysis conducted, it was known that the process of using the PixelLab application
obtained an average result of 88.33% for teacher activities and an average result of 87.49% for
student activities, which is considered very good. In the test results, a significant difference was
obtained between the post-test and pre-test results in both the control and experimental groups,
which was proven by a t-test with a level of 5% (t count 3.29 > t table 1.99). Therefore, it can be
concluded that there is a significant influence between the use of the PixelLab application and
the improvement of learning outcomes for student of class XI Multimedia at SMK Ketintang
Surabaya.
