Kompetensi dibutuhkan untuk menghadapi perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi salah satunya keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pengambilan keputusan untuk menyelesaikan masalah alat optik. Jenis penelitian ini termasuk deskriptif kuantitatif dengan populasi SMA Negeri di Surabaya bagian selatan yang menggunakan teknik purposive stratified random sampling. Sampel dipilih berdasarkan rerata nilai UN tahun 2017 dan terbagi menjadi dua kategori yaitu tinggi dan rendah dengan jumlah sampel minimal 10% dari sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profil keterampilan berpikir kritis yang dimiliki siswa ditunjukkan pada indikator inferensi (24%), asumsi (59%), deduksi (64%), interpretasi (58%), argumentasi (57%), analisis (41%), evaluasi (42%), kesimpulan (37%), serta penjelasan (45%). Hasil yang tertera pada setiap indikator dipengaruhi berbagai faktor dari guru maupun siswa.

This study aims to describe the profile of critical thinking skills of students in decision-making to resolve the problem of optical devices. This type of research this includes quantitative, descriptive, with a population of SMA Negeri Surabaya in the southern part of the purposive technique using stratified random sampling. The sample chosen based on the average value of the UN year 2017 and is divided into two categories, namely high and low with a total sample of at least 10% of the sample. The results showed that the profile of the critical thinking skills that are owned by average students shown on the indicator inference (24%), assumptions (59%), deductions (64%), interpretation (58%), argumentation (57%), analysis (41%), evaluation (42%), conclusions (37%), as well as explanations (45%). The results are printed on each indicator is influenced by a variety of factors including teachers and students.
