Stunting is a serious public health issue, especially in rural areas like Ngablak Village in Bojonegoro District. Addressing stunting requires a holistic and coordinated approach through the convergence of programs and efforts from various sectors. Community Development Cadres (KPM) have the potential to act as agents of change in stunting prevention through convergence actions. This research aims to analyze the role of KPM in facilitating convergence actions for stunting prevention in Ngablak Village, Dander Subdistrict, Bojonegoro District.
A qualitative approach is used in this research with data collection methods including in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis related to stunting prevention programs and the role of KPM. Qualitative research methods are employed to gather in-depth and contextual data. In-depth interviews are used to obtain perspectives and experiences of KPM directly involved in stunting prevention programs. Participatory observation is conducted to understand the interaction and dynamics between KPM, the community, and relevant sectors. Document analysis is carried out on training materials, guidelines, stunting prevention program reports, and related literature.
The results of the research show that KPM plays a significant role in facilitating convergence actions for stunting prevention. KPM is involved in coordinating various programs from the health, nutrition, education, and community development sectors that are interconnected with stunting prevention. Through training and mentoring, KPM can provide education to mothers of toddlers about balanced nutrition, good parenting practices, and the importance of adequate healthcare access and sanitation. However, there are several challenges faced by KPM in their role as facilitators of convergence actions for stunting prevention. The main challenges include limited resources, lack of infrastructure support, and a high turnover rate of KPM. Efforts are needed to strengthen the capacity of KPM through regular training and improved inter-sector communication to address these challenges.
