Persepsi Guru terhadap Penerapan Model Kelas Terbalik dalam Pembelajaran Menulis
Teachers’ Perceptions on the Implementation of Flipped Classroom Model in Learning Writing
Model kelas terbalik adalah strategi pengajaran yang relatif baru. Dalam situias pandemi COVID-19 saat ini, flipped classroom menjadi salah satu mode pembelajaran yang tepat. Model ini mencoba untuk mentransfer proses belajar mengajar di luar kelas melalui teknologi, dan mentransfer pekerjaan rumah atau tugas di dalam kelas melalui kegiatan belajar, sehingga meningkatkan partisipasi dan kinerja siswa. Namun penggunaan model flipped classroom sendiri belum banyak digunakan di Indonesia. Artikel ini memberikan persepsi guru tentang penerapan model kelas terbalik dalam pembelajaran menulis. Penelitian ini melibatkan enam guru bahasa Inggris SMA yang menerapkan model flipped classroom dalam pembelajaran menulis, khususnya bagi siswa kelas XII SMA. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner terbuka dan wawancara dengan pertanyaan yang tidak terstruktur. Peneliti menyediakan data dengan menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Artikel ini menunjukkan hasil penelitian tentang persepsi guru terhadap penerapan model kelas terbalik dalam pembelajaran menulis. Mereka percaya bahwa flipped classroom memudahkan para guru dalam proses belajar mengajar. Model ini memiliki beberapa manfaat bagi siswa dan guru seperti, melatih guru dan siswa untuk berpikir kritis, bekerjasama, kreatif dan meningkatkan keterikatannya. Selain itu, flipped classroom juga memiliki beberapa kelemahan bagi siswa dan guru seperti kesiapan materi, kuota yang cukup, dan motivasi siswa dalam belajar.

The flipped classroom is a relatively recent method of the teaching-learning process. Based on the current pandemic of COVID-19, a flipped classroom is one of the suitable learning models to use. This methodology aims to improve student engagement and performance by bringing the teaching- learning process outside of the classroom via technology, as well as bringing the assignment or homework into the classroom through learning activities. However, the flipped classroom model is not widely used in Indonesia. This article discusses instructors' perspectives on using the flipped classroom concept in teaching writing. Six Senior High School English teachers used the flipped classroom methodology to teach writing for Senior High School students, primarily in the twelfth grade. The data were collected by using an open questionnaire and unstructured interview. The researcher provides the data by using a descriptive qualitative technique. The result of this research shows the teachers’ perceptions on the implementation of flipped classroom model in learning writing. They believe that flipped classrooms model facilitates the teachers in the teaching-learning process. This model has several benefits for students and teachers such as, train the teachers and students to think critically, cooperate, creative, and increase their engagement besides that, flipped classroom also has several weaknesses for students and teacher such as material readiness, sufficient quota, and students’ motivations in learning.
