Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil berpikir konseptual mahasiswa pendidikan matematika laki-laki maskulin dan perempuan feminim dalam memecahkan masalah matematika. Subjek penelitian dipilih dari mahasiswa pendidikan matematika yang berkemampuan sedang tetapi berada pada bagian atas.
Data penelitian diperoleh melalui proses wawancara terhadap subjek secara semi terstruktur. Wawancara dilakukan didasarkan pada tugas pemecahan masalah matematika. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara kualitatif. Proses analisis data melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu (1) kategorisasi data, (2) reduksi data, (3) penyajian data, (4) interpretasi data, dan (5) kesimpulan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam memahami masalah, perempuan feminin membuat representasi simbolik dan representasi piktorial secara terpisah. Sedangkan laki-laki maskulin membuat representasi simbolik dan representasi piktorial secara menyatu. Perempuan feminin menyatakan pengertian konsep sambil menggambar sedangkan laki-laki maskulin menyatakan pengertian konsep secara verbal.
Dalam membuat rencana, strategi perempuan feminin berdasarkan pada konsep tertentu dan mengaitkan dengan pertanyaan masalah, sehingga rencana langkah pemecahan belum lengkap. Sedangkan laki-laki maskulin mengaitkan konsep secara menyeluruh, sehingga rencana pemecahan menjadi jelas dan lengkap.
Dalam melaksanakan rencana, perempuan feminin menentukan langkah awal pemecahan berdasarkan konsep tertentu yang dapat diselesaikan dan mengaitkan dengan pertanyaan masalah, sedangkan laki-laki maskulin menentukan langkah awal melalui langkah mundur dengan mengaitkan antara pertanyaan masalah dengan konsep-konsep lain secara menyeluruh. Perempuan feminin melakukan pemecahan masalah secara parsial berdasarkan kaitan antar konsep sedangkan laki-laki maskulin melakukan pemecahan masalah secara terintegrasi berdasarkan kaitan antar konsep.

This research aims to describe the conceptual thinking profile of male and female students of Mathematics Education in solving math problems. The research subjects were selected from Mathematics Education students who have math skills in the upper middle category.
The research data were obtained through a semi-structured interview process to the subjects. The interview was conducted based on a mathematical problem-solving tasks. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively. The data analysis process was carried out in several stages, namely (1) categorizing the data, (2) reducing the data, (3) presenting the data, (4) interpreting the data, and (5) concluding.
The results showed that in understanding the problem, the female made symbolic and pictorial representations separately. Meanwhile, the male made symbolic and pictorial representations together. The female expressed her understanding of concepts while drawing, on the other hand the male expressed his understanding of concepts verbally.
In making plans, the female's strategy was based on certain concepts and related to problem questions, so that the problem-solving plan was incomplete. Meanwhile, the male related the concepts overall, so that the problem-solving plan became complete and systematic.
In carrying out the plan, the female determined the initial steps of solving based on certain concepts that can be solved and related with problem questions, while the male determined the initial steps through a backward step by relating the problem questions with other concepts overall. The female did the problem-solving partially based on the relation between the concepts, while the male did the problem-solving in an integrated manner based on the relation between the concepts.
