PENGARUH VARIASI SUSUNAN SERAT DAN TEMPERATUR POST-CURING KOMPOSIT SERAT KULIT JAGUNG TERHADAP KEKERASAN
EFFECTS OF FIBER ARRANGEMENT AND POST-CURINGTEMPERATURE ON BENDING STRENGTH AND HARDNESSOF CORN HUSK FIBER COMPOSITES
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruhsusunan serat dan temperatur post-curing terhadap sifat mekanikkomposit polyester berpenguat serat kulit jagung. Serat kulitjagung digunakan sebagai penguat dengan volume 70%,sedangkan matriks terdiri dari resin polyester Yukalac BQTN 157- EX. Variasi susunan serat meliputi anyaman tegak lurus, 45°, dan60°, serta temperatur post-curing 80°C, 100°C, dan 120°C.Pengujian dilakukan dengan uji bending dan kekerasan. Hasilmenunjukkan bahwa susunan serat tegak lurus dan temperaturpost-curing 100°C menghasilkan kekuatan bending tertinggi(62,50 MPa) dan kekerasan optimal (43,6 HR15T). Analisis statistik(Two-way ANOVA) membuktikan pengaruh signifikan darikedua variabel terhadap sifat mekanik komposit. Penelitian inimemberikan wawasan baru tentang pemanfaatan limbah kulitjagung sebagai bahan komposit ramah lingkungan untuk aplikasi industri.
This study aims to analyze the effect of fiber arrangement and post- curing temperature on the mechanical properties of polyester compositesreinforced with corn husk fibers. Corn husk fibers were used asreinforcement with a volume of 70%, while the matrix consisted ofYukalac BQTN 157-EX polyester resin. Variations included woven fiberorientations (0°, 45°, and 60°) and post-curing temperatures (80°C,100°C, and 120°C). Testing involved bending and hardness tests. Theresults showed that the perpendicular fiber arrangement and a post- curing temperature of 100°C yielded the highest bending strength (62.50MPa) and optimal hardness (43.6 HR15T). Statistical analysis (Two-wayANOVA) confirmed the significant influence of both variables on thecomposite's mechanical properties. This research provides new insightsinto utilizing corn husk waste as an eco-friendly composite material forindustrial applications.
