In a machine, it is necessary to update if there is a lack of feasibility or absence of some components through a redesign and assembly process which aims to make the machine function optimally and get increased performance. Of course practicum is an important thing to support or improve the quality of students by supporting practicum facilities on campus.
This research uses a quantitative descriptive method to explain the function and redesign of a machine. The redesign process only exists in several components such as, top cover, electric motor, table, hower or chuck, stand handle, base plate or holder, v-belt pulley, and clamps. As well as conducting function testing by drilling on ST-37 carbon steel material with different drill bits and speeds in each pulley transmission speed.
Based on the results obtained, the First LC-25A drilling machine has final specifications, namely dimensions of 850 mm × 400 mm × 1550 mm, 220 VAC voltage (1/2 HP), chuck capacity of 3 mm - 16 mm and 1 phase electrical system. As well as function testing using a 3 mm drill bit and using 4 different pulley transmission speeds to be tested on ST-37 carbon steel test material with dimensions of 50 mm × 50 mm and 9 mm thick, the results can function properly. And the components that have gone through the redesign and assembly process can function properly.
