Peran Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah dalam Mengembangkan Budaya Literasi di Sekolah Menengah Pertama
Literacy is the means by which students learn, understand, and practice school learning, through the basic activity of reading. For high school students, the role of literacy is essential to provide learning experience and as a basis for developing the ability of one's own to go through the next generation of education and the work force. This led the principal to strive to improve the quality of the students' literacy, developing the literacy culture through supportive programs. On the other hand, it would require the involvement of the entire school community. Thus, the principal needs to do his leadership role to get school people to work together, to make the cultural progress effort work well, and the quality of student literacy increases and quality. The purpose of this writing is to describe and analyze the role of the leadership of the principal in developing literacy cultures, particularly at the bottom of middle school. It uses literature studies, in the stages of selecting discussion topics, searching for literature sources, classifying material and reviewing results, and writing processes. Meanwhile, the data analysis used is using content analysis with a qualitative descriptive model. So the result is: 1) the principal's role as policymaker, 2) the principal's role as motivator, 3) the principal's role as an example, 4) the principal's role as trustee.
