Development Of Mandatory Card Game Learning Media
To Improve Critical Reasoning Ability On Social Studies
Perkembangan Century 21th Skills atau kemampuan abad 21 menuntut
seseorang untuk mampu berpikir secara kreatif dan kritis, hal ini bertujuan agar
seseorang mampu memecahkan masalah dan mengambil keputusan dalam praktik
kehidupan sehari-hari. Pendidikan memiliki peran penuh dalam membantu
menumbuhkan kemampuan peserta didik dalam bernalar kritis yang salah satunya
dapat ditumbuhkan melalui pembelajaran IPS dengan metode high order thinking
skills yakni melalui proses belajar kritis-analitis. Penggunaan media pembelajaran
merupakan salah satu cara dalam menciptakan suasana belajar interaktif yang
terbukti mampu mendukung kemampuan kognitif peserta didik.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah media Mandatory
(Match and Learn History) Card Game yang layak, praktis, dan efektif untuk
membantu meningkatkan kemampuan bernalar kritis pada pembelajaran IPS di
kelas VIII SMP. Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model pengembangan
ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Penelitian
ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 30 Surabaya, dengan subjek penelitian dosen ahli
media, dosen ahli materi, guru selaku praktisi pendidikan, dan peserta didik kelas
VIII SMP Negeri 30 Surabaya selaku pengguna media.
Hasil penelitian ini menyebutkan bahwa media Mandatory Card Game
memiliki tingkat kelayakan media sebesar 92% (sangat layak), kelayakan materi
91% (sangat layak), kepraktisan media sebesar 93% (sangat praktis), dan
dinyatakan cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan bernalar kritis pada
peserta didik kelas VIII dengan nilai sig (2-tailed) equal variances not asummed
0,000 < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada kemampuan bernalar
kritis peserta didik yang diberi perlakuan media Mandatory dan peserta didik yang
tidak diberi perlakuan. Serta memperoleh skor n-gain 0,64 atau 64% dengan kriteria
cukup efektif.

The development of 21st Century Skills or 21st century abilities require a
person to be able to think creatively and critically, this aims to enable a person to
be able to solve problems and make decisions in the practice of everyday life.
Education has a full role in helping to develop students' ability to think critically,
one of which can be developed through social studies learning using the high order
thinking skills method, namely through a critical-analytical learning process. The
use of learning media is one way to create an interactive learning atmosphere that
is proven to be able to support students' cognitive abilities.
This study aims to develop a proper, practical, and effective Compulsory Card
Game (Match and Learn History) media to help improve critical reasoning skills
in social studies learning in class VIII SMP. This development research uses the
ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation,
Evaluation). This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 30 Surabaya, with
research subjects being media expert lecturers, material expert lecturers, teachers
as education practitioners, and class VIII students at SMP Negeri 30 Surabaya as
media users.
The results of this study stated that the Mandatory Card Game media had a
media feasibility level of 92% (very feasible), material feasibility of 91% (very
feasible), media practicality of 93% (very practical), and was stated to be quite
effective in increasing critical reasoning skills in class VIII students with a sig (2-
tailed) equal variances not assumed 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is a
significant difference in the critical reasoning abilities of students who were given
Mandatory media treatment and students who were not given treatment. As well as
obtaining an n-gain score of 0.64 or 64% with criteria that are quite effective.
