Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning terhadap Keterampilan Berpikir Kreatif Peserta Didik SMP
Implementation of Problem Based Learning Model Towars Creative Thinking Skills of Junior High School Students

Education plays an important role in preparing human resources ready to face the challenges of the 21st century. One of the important skills that students need to have is creative thinking skills. This study aims to determine the improvement of students creative thinking skills, the implementation of the learning process, and students' responses after the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to soil pollution material. This study used a one group pretest posttest design with 34 class VII D students as subjects at UPT SMPN 18 Gresik. Data were collected through tests, observations, and questionnaires. The results showed that the N Gain score of creative thinking skills reached 0.8 (high category). The learning process was carried out 100% with very good quality. In addition, 93.2% of students gave positive responses to learning. The improvement of creative thinking skills occurred because students actively solved problems through the PBL model. Learning went smoothly because of the clear flow and material that was relevant to students' lives. Positive responses emerged because students felt that learning was more real and encouraged active participation. In conclusion, the PBL model is effective in improving creative thinking skills and student involvement. This model is suitable as a more interesting and meaningful alternative for science learning.
