SOCIAL CRITICISM IN MEN COBLONG'S NOVEL BY OKA RUSMINI (JURGEN HABERMAS CRITICAL SOCIAL STUDY)

Kritik sosial hadir salah satunya sebagai respon dari beragam permasalahan sosial dalam kehidupan, yang timbul akibat dominasi sistem-sistem yang ada di suatu negara. Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan wujud rasionalitas teknis yang mendominasi dalam kehidupan masyarakat dan kritik sosial yang termuat dalam novel Men Coblong, karya Oka Rusmini. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan sosiologi sastra, yang berfokus pada analisis aspek-aspek kehidupan sosial, dengan metode penelitian dekriptif kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah novel berjudul Men Coblong, karya Oka Rusmini, dengan data penelitian, berupa kutipan kalimat atau paragraf dalam novel yang relevan. Menerapkan teknik pengumpulan data baca-catat dan teknik analisis deskriptif. Kajian kritik sosial ini menggunakan sudut pandang pemikiran teori kritis Jurgen Habermas, terkait rasionalitas teknis yang mendominasi dalam kehidupan masyarakat dan komunikasi yang membebaskan melalui kritik sosial dengan tujuan membuka ruang publik, sehingga isu yang dikritik dapat menjadi bahan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, dalam novel Men Coblong ditemukan rasionalitas teknis telah merambah ke beberapa aspek dalam kehidupan yakni: 1) Di dunia pendidikan (terkait sistem kurikulum pendidikan), 2) Di dalam kehidupan berpolitik, 3) Di kehidupan ekonomi masyarakat, 4) Di dalam proses penegagakan hukum 5) Di dalam proses pelayanan kesehatan masyarakat. Rasionalitas teknis mempengaruhi munculnya kritik - kritik sosial yakni: 1) Kritik terhadap sistem kurikulum pendidikan, 2) Kritik terhadap politik, 3) Kritik terhadap kebijakan ekonomi, 4) Kritik terhadap ketidakadilan penegakan hukum, 5) Kritik terhadap pelayanan kesehatan. 

Social criticism is present, one of which is a response to various social problems in life, which arise due to the dominance of the existing systems in a country. This study aims to describe the form of technical rationality that dominates people's lives and social criticism contained in the novel Men Coblong, by Oka Rusmini. The research approach used is a sociology of literature approach, which focuses on analyzing aspects of social life, with qualitative descriptive research methods. The data source of this research is a novel entitled Men Coblong, by Oka Rusmini, with research data in the form of quote sentences or paragraphs in the relevant novel. Apply reading-note data collection techniques and descriptive analysis techniques. This study of social criticism uses the point of view of Jurgen Habermas' critical theory, related to technical rationality that dominates in people's lives and liberating communication through social criticism with the aim of opening up public space, so that the issue being criticized can be used as evaluation material. The results showed that in the Men Coblong novel, it was found that technical rationality had penetrated into several aspects of life, namely: 1) In the world of education (related to the education curriculum system), 2) In political life, 3) In the economic life of society, 4) In law enforcement process 5) In the process of public health services. Technical rationality affects the emergence of social criticisms, namely: 1) Criticism of the education curriculum system, 2) Criticism of politics, 3) Criticism of economic policies, 4) Criticism of injustice in law enforcement, 5) Criticism of health services.
