Desain Aktivitas Project Based Learning ( PjBL ) Literasi Matematika untuk Siswa Kelas V Sekolah Dasar
Design of Project Based Learning (PjBL) Activities for Mathematics Literacy for Grade V Elementary School Students
In designing Project Based Learning PjBL-based learning activities that can improve the mathematical literacy of grade V students at SDN Jemundo 2, Taman District. Mathematical literacy is one of the important skills of the 21st century that needs to be instilled early to prepare students for the challenges of the real world. However, mathematics learning in elementary schools is often conventional, so it does not involve students in creative and collaborative problem solving. Therefore, it is necessary to design PjBL activities that are relevant to the needs of students.
This study used the Design Research (DR) method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis involving students, teachers, and principals as the main participants. The research process included needs identification, design of PjBL activities, implementation, and evaluation. The activities designed involved daily life-based projects, such as calculating the area of flat shapes through measuring real objects in the school environment.
The results showed that contextually designed PjBL activities were able to improve students' mathematical literacy, especially in the aspects of problem solving, mathematical communication, and critical thinking skills. Discussions with teachers and students showed that project-based learning provides a more meaningful experience than traditional methods. However, some challenges, such as limited time and resources, require collaborative solutions between the school and researchers. The importance of mathematical literacy-based PjBL activity design can be an innovative approach to improve students' mathematical skills. This research is expected to contribute to the development of more creative and effective learning in primary schools.
