Self-Compassion sebagai Faktor Psikologis dalam Academic Stress pada Mahasiswa Tingkat Akhir
Self-Compassion as a Psychological Factor in Academic Stress among Final-Year Students
Stres akademik merupakan isu krusial di kalangan mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang menghadapi tekanan dalam menyelesaikan tugas akhir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara self-compassion dan stres akademik pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional yang melibatkan 187 responden mahasiswa Psikologi Universitas Negeri Surabaya yang sedang menyusun skripsi atau tugas akhir. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah convenience sampling. Variabel stres akademik diukur menggunakan Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents, sedangkan variabel self-compassion diukur menggunakan Self-Compassion Scale. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan korelasi Spearman’s rho dan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif yang kuat dan signifikan antara self-compassion dan stres akademik. Self-compassion mampu memprediksi proporsi varians yang cukup besar terhadap stres akademik pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa self-compassion merupakan faktor protektif penting terhadap stres akademik pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir.
Academic stress represents a critical issue among final-year students facing the pressure of completing their final projects. This study examined the relationship between self-compassion and academic stress, and explored differences in relationship patterns based on students' living arrangements. The research employed a cross-sectional correlational design involving 187 respondents Psychology students at Universitas Negeri Surabaya who were completing their theses or final projects. Data were collected using convenience sampling technique. Academic stress variable was measured using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents and self-compassion variable was measured using the Self-Compassion Scale. Data were analyzed with Spearman's rho correlation and simple linear regression. Results showed a strong and significant negative relationship between self-compassion and academic stress. Self-compassion predicted a substantial portion of variance in academic stress among final-year students These findings confirm self-compassion as an important protective factor against academic stress in final-year students.
